No mod support for Battlefield 3

Recommended Posts

Looks like EA's DICE on BF3 has become the next Activision's Infinity Ward on MW2:

The only reason from the editors for this outrageousness is because of the Frostbite 2 game engine makes it too difficult for modders to create or mod the Battlefield game(s)? That's not entirely true. That's an automatic epic fail from DICE and MW3 will own BF3 this time around.

Where does it say anything about LAN?

I see nothing about LAN in there at all. All I saw was no modding tools will be available because the engine is a bit more complex than before.

I was gonna say. The idea of any modern FPS not having LAN is ridiculous.

Mod support for FPS isn't a big deal in my humble opinion, I also care little for LAN support.

What I do care about is dedicated servers, with out them its a piece of ****. :)

I LOL'd.

Nothing is too complex for modders. Within a year or two, you'll see a released BF3 mod.

On the subject of mod modding support. As popular as modding is, it will not make or break the success of the product.

I hope both games suck and fail big time so these devs stop churning out the same clone **** every year. This is mostly the case for CoD/MW series. Same ****, different year. Anyway without being to contradictory, I would look at buying BF3 over MW3 anyway.

How about a modern RTS with no LAN support? Look at Starcraft 2. Might as well add C&C 4 to that list as well.

It's really amazing how SC2 has so many MP players when SC1 was played intensively on LAN parties.

I don't get why you mention C&C 4?

I believe you would have searched the Internet before changing the title thread. The truth was there.

If there's no LAN support, there's also no mod support.

QFT.

It's up to the one making the claims to source their claims. If you make a claim and provide a source that doesn't support it, people aren't going to believe it, and to expect them to go out of their way to prove it themselves is foolishness. Especially in the case of said claim-maker having a reputation of making unsupported claims.

Like SC2, C&C 4 has no LAN support either.

Nor does it have players that would even wish to play LAN

Indeed, it is a truly perfect system. :)

I'm a bit bummed, but it won't break this game like Sonic said. It's still unoriginal but I LOVED Battlefield 2 (so many hours burnt in that) and I liked BC2 as well. And they're making it really polished, looks lovely as hell, and pretty nifty new features too so it's not like a complete clone at least.

It's just sad because BF2 had some pretty cool mods, along with BF1942. So kind of breaking a tradition but whatever.
