Valve announces new Counterstrike game

Recommended Posts

It's not Counterstrike 2, but actually Valve calls it Counterstrike: Global Offensive.

This game is being worked on by Valve and Hidden Path Entertainment.

Global Offensive? That reminds me of an expansion pack to COD1 called COD: United Offensive.

Seems like Valve has lost concentration on Half-Life for five years in a row while trying to improve other games first. All the lies of having a new Half-Life episode game every three months were never regretted from Valve. No wonder why Half-Life 2 didn't deserve a Game of the Year Edition release as well as a real expansion pack (with the exemption of Opposing Force 2).

When Valve announces a new product, why does everyone complain about Half-Life at the same time? You people act like Half-Life is the only game franchise Valve has, and you presume that Valve has to cater to your every whim. Seriously. Why is Half-Life that goddamn important to you morons?

PROTIP: I love Half-Life to death so don't call me an HL hater.

Another Counterstrike game.... snore. Just another CoD/MW clone.

I love Half-Life to death as well. I'm sure Valve will get back to it when they are ready.

Counterstrike is all about multiplayer so it's not really a clone of anything since COD took cues from CS. It wasn't until Condition Zero did it get some sort of singleplayer, and it looks like this is no different to the original release...

One of these days I'm going to play both Half Life and Counterstrike....

Well, probably not since they're so old, but one can dream.... Well not really either. :o

How dare you!

Seriously though, a new CS is something I've been waiting for for ages. CS:Source is outdated in many ways.

So who's up for a clan when the time comes? ^_^

Counterstrike: Global Offensive needs major improvements rather than just recycling material from Counterstrike Source. Other than the upgraded graphics and gameplay, the game also needs:

-- improved AI similar to Team Fortress 2

-- more game modes (from Capture the Flag to Last Man Standing)

-- more usage of co-operative mode

-- another single-player campaign (with a story)

-- more multiplayer maps (at least 30 as a minimum)

-- more gaming options to set up when launching a skirmish or multiplayer

-- more new kick*** weapons similar to the Modern Warfare series

-- to be less archaic, but real-time.

If CSGO actually looks that good, I might actually get it even if it is MP only. If you do make a clan, I might just have to think about joining.

 Would be epic fun ^_^

-- improved AI similar to Team Fortress 2

AI in CS is only for nubbing around (mainly kids who get their butt whooped online).

-- more game modes (from Capture the Flag to Last Man Standing).

There will be new game modes.

-- more usage of co-operative mode

CS is a cooperative game itself.

-- another single-player campaign (with a story)

Yeah that worked great last time... *looks at Condition Zero*

-- more multiplayer maps (at least 30 as a minimum)

Have you ever played Counter Strike?

Counter Strike is known for it's creative community of mappers. Let Valve stick to making the gameplay along with the classic maps and just release a new version of the Hammer Editor. The community will provide heaps of maps.

-- more gaming options to set up when launching a skirmish or multiplayer

Counter Strike have always had a huge amount of options and tweaks to set through the console.

-- more new kick*** weapons similar to the Modern Warfare series

A couple of new fresh weapons would be nice. A Call of Duty ripoff would be disastrous.

Counter-Strike still the most-played FPS on Brazil... It is just and classic that everybody can play!

It is better Valve do not mess CS like they did on Source... Cmon... Cs1.6 ftw! Anyway, i don't think valve will do it like COD... it is a Classic game, diserves a classic look like!

Valve still win a LOT of money with Counter-Strike! it is probably the Oldest game that're still updated!

but anyway... The history mode? they can sell a "Multiplayer Only" mode... If i'm going to get it, i will only get the multiplayer mode, unless someone tell me the singleplayer is awesome.

It appears that Valve is using the same fonts and updated game engine to this Counterstrike game that Portal 2 had.

Man. I think I'll actually get this even if it's MP only. I got a fancy headset and I want to listen to everyone talk smack. Some good lulz in there. Maybe this game will have a... BAZOOKA.

Internet points if you get the reference.
