New APA Command & Conquer - Free to Play Screenshot

A brand new Command & Conquer - Free to Play screenshot was posted today on the Official C&C Facebook page (and Twitter). The new screenshot includes plenty of action and the first public detailed look at the APA Nuke Cannon in its deployed and un-deployed modes.

The Nuke Cannon looks great, and very true to the original.

 

On a side note, I wish we could stop calling the Command and Conquer 2013 reboot "C&C Free to Play".

To me, it just sounds so... cheap, untrue and unworthy to the C&C legacy and all those great games from Westwood's era.

Not giving the new C&C a good name is like sailing on a boat which you call "the boat" all the time... or some other better example or analogy which I can't seem to make up at this time.

i wish it was so easy, it not in our hands, i hope teh community manager reads our posts here and maybe others agree with us.

the given name is just......terrible!

why dont they simply call it "C&C Live" or C&C Online or something, because i understand that they want into this engine to add more Mods later and other CnC universes.....

 

or on the other hand lets just call each universe the next available number.

 

you will login to the C&C Online, and then you can select to play on of the next universes in the future

I am fully aware of that. It just sounds cheap... I remember seeing people calling it C&C 2013 which sounds a lot better if you ask me. But that's not my call to make.

I know the new C&C will be a live service, yet the issue is why can't they call it C&C Arena or C&C Online or some other sub-title fit enough to match this description? It'll confuse most of the people into thinking that C&C title (as it stands from Victory Games without a subtitle) is a remake of C&C, or just simply the title that already used since 1995. From the first screenshots most players have seen, VG is still in denial from calling this game Generals 2 just because it featured content that is supposed to be Generals 2 and there's no signs of other factions being implemented from the Tiberium and Red Alert universes.

"Most of the people" aren't quite that stupid. However, it is annoying when companies arbitrarily decide to drop the subtitles of a well established and long-running franchise, or alternatively, drop the series title like Tiberium did.

Mother of god...what have they done to the Helix? It looks outright ugly :S. The nuke cannon looks more like a tank in the packed mode than a heavy arty unit. I don't like the looks of those 2. I hope EA/Victory is flexible enough to change them.

 

I am not sure whether its the nuke cannon though. The explosion on the right seems to have been caused by the deployed arty unit and its does not look like a nuke explosion.
