Kickstarter updates its terms of use to address failed projects

Recommended Posts

When new game projects fail under Kickstarter, the guys that owned/operated Kickstarter aren't going to tolerate them anymore:

This is going to be very tough for future new game projects.

For example, if anyone wants to revive and reboot back a C&C game using Kickstarter, that project MUST go through regardless of delays and/or failures.

Bad example. C&C is owned by EA. No kickstarter will ever change that <_<

Anyway, I think this is pretty reasonable; this is about a kickstarter project actually reaching its goal, getting its money, and then failing to deliver. It's not about what they deliver, or how well the created thing will be received; it's about actually failing to accomplish their own set goals. When that happens, that's clearly just poor management.

I can't really say I blame Kickstarter for that change in policy. It seems like it's to prevent people from cheating the system, which is a good thing really.

Should have been there since the beginning.

You really are gambling with your money when you back these projects, which is something I think a lot of people don't realise.

What I wanted one of these crowd funding sites to do is to allow the buyers/investors to acquire credits in US$ 10 packs and the system converts each to 10,000 points, so the investor can distribute these points in much more projects. I think they are missing an opportunity.

That wouldn't really work. People should just be able to back what projects they choose with good, old fashioned money. No points bull****. Like an idea and want to pledge $50? Deal. Go for it. That's all it ever needs to be honestly.

Sure, and how many projects of $ 50 bucks have you supported on a crowd funding site?

We are both guessing or having an opinion, but I'm the one living in an inflationary environment seeing small business closing doors due to the customer's lack of purchase power.

They are not closing because their ideas are weak or bad, but because the government is lying about inflation leaving the entrepreneurs without the chance to make a good plan.

You can talk to anyone needing money for a project: the more people adopt it, more people will come over and have a look at the project and fund it.

For the entrepreneur is just a currency conversion. Maybe the projects will need more time to mature, but more of them will survive.

What individuals don't want more power of choice?
