New Forum Theme: "cncnzNewBlue"

The new theme for the forum is up and running, its designed around the colours and style that arrived with the new look main site in early February. Like the main site, the primary focus was to refresh the blue colours. The change is noticeable here on the forums, but is not as significant as the main site. I didn't want to go crazy changing everything, just introduce the new things.

 

"cncnzNewBlue", the name of the theme, uses a new top header background, I fixed the top navigation tabs so the active tab matches the the page selected. Most of the black backgrounds have been stripped out in favour of a very dark blue. Other than that I have not changed many other colours.

 

Even the though the new them is active I'll still be tweaking a few extra things here and there as I see them, stuff that I've missed etc.... If you spot something that doesn't look right please let me know in this topic.

 

The previous theme, "cncnzBlueRes", is still available for those who want to use it. Use the Change Theme pop up menu at the bottom to switch between them. And while we are on the subject of themes. The original IP.Board light theme has been temporarily disabled due a problem with it that I discovered while testing and working on this new one. I doubt many people used it anyway.

Nice, the dark blues in tandem with the orange titles give a nice background contrast. A few changes here and there never hurt.

I think the dark blue is a little too dark, especially when I veiw my monitor at a slight angle (if I'm leaning back) and it darkens even more. Other than that, it looks pretty good.

While some things have changed due to new coloring, what about the blue background of this forum? Maybe this time it will be a blue texture of some kind?

 

As for the dark blue idea, I rather like Navy Blue instead since it's my favorite dark blue color.

I've still got some things to fix. I'm going to experiment with this dark background while take care of some other minor parts of this new theme.

Just a quick update. Made some more changes, they were minor really. Toned down the shadow effects on the titles text, darken part of the Shoutbox. Fixed more colours on various other pages like Profiles, Calendar, Search, Members etc....

I did experiment with the darker blue in the post body, it started looking like the previous theme so I went back to the dark blue. Don't forget, I'm trying to keep things in-line with the main site as much as I can.

 

I fixed the problem with the light IP.Board theme, it available again from the Change Theme pop up menu at the bottom.

I agree with you and Nmenth on that. I think its because we had the lighter blue there for so long the transition to the darker blue is a tricky one. As I said, I've tried different shades of blue, but nothing looked good or it was starting to the look the old theme. If it really becomes a problem you can easily change to the "cncnzBlueRes" theme I guess.

 

The part that annoys me the most, because I don't know colour to put there is the black bar (where your username is) between the posts. I feel it should be a different colour other than black for some reason.

Yes I like the addition orange as well. I've limited the use of it though.

So I went to fix this. But to be honest I'm not see any problem here. Its displaying as it should.

 

 

When there is now content to display a message in white text on the blue background will be there instead.

Made a slight colour change to the dark blue main body colour. It now matches the main site exactly. I made a mistake when I originally created the new theme. Today's change is only marginally different though, its still dark

 

I'll assume everyone is happy with "cncnzNewBlue" in its current state. Please do speak up if you think something isn't right or looking to good.

I'm dabbling around with some C&C faction specific IPB skins that I could share with you guys in the future if you were looking to add a few more? I've nearly finished putting the final touches on my Tib Sun Nod skin, then I'm moving onto GDI.
