Doctor Destiny 41 Posted October 21, 2004 If you haven't heard, Boston beat the Yankees 4 games to 3. They've made history, not only once but twice and they've broken the curse that's plagued them for 86 years. 10-3 was the final score. Go Sox; I hope they take it all. If you're a Yankees fan: HAHAHAHAHAHA! Better luck next time, or not. To Steinbrenner: Get out your checkbook mate. Oh yeah, who's YOUR daddy? You can't win with a bought team my man. That was such a great game. Share this post Link to post
Saracen 16 Posted October 21, 2004 It's an amazment to me how a game of Rounders played mostly by women here get's everyone in the USA excited... All American sports are modified versions of games invented in Britain... let me demonstrate.. Baseball = Rounders - a game played by women here American Football = Rugby - a more complex and fun game without the body armour Basketball = Netball - Women play this, but don't move, and the sport's 100% sexier Dodgeball = OK don't even ask about that one, kids play this in infant school  I'm not mocking American Sports it's just that as far as I know I cannot think of a single American Sport that wasn't invented without modifying an entire sport another nation uses...with the exception of dodgeball, but the name is pretty much the rules of the game... no learning curve needed :? Doctor Destiny 41 Posted October 21, 2004 Did I ask for that? No. Laugh at the Yankees. Share this post Link to post
Phreakly 0 Posted October 21, 2004 Yeah, it has nothing to do with the quality of sport and everything to do with the fact that George Steinbrenner pays the payroll of $200 million US annually to a team that can't win the world series. Granted they have been dominant in the past, but the last 4 consectuive years they've lost. And they lost to teams they weren't supposed to. This year they were actually expected to lose going into the 7 game series against the Red Sox, but then they won the first 3 games. And lost the last 4, the first 2 Yankee losses were in games 5+ hours in length, and then the other two Boston looked like they were actually expected to going into the series. If you're not going to laugh at the Yankees, laugh at George Steinbrenner for wasting about $800 million US over 4 years. Share this post Link to post
Sonic 296 Posted October 22, 2004 Silly game baseball. They play to many regular season games, something like 162 I think. The players are over paid, steroid taking cry babies. And it seems people only get interested in it when its the Yankees VS Red Sox. MLB probably rigged it this year so that it ended up like this for TV ratings, high TV ratings means more money. It was Yankees VS Red Sox in last seasons playoff as well with the Yankees moving on. As for American sports, they all have their problems. MLB: See above NBA: Lack of big stars, criminal problems (Kobe Bryant), overpaid players NFL: Don't know whats happening, lost interest in it NHL: Labor dispute, players locked out, season cancelled Share this post Link to post
Doctor Destiny 41 Posted October 22, 2004 This is a laugh at the Yankees thread, not a bash American sports thread. If I wanted that, I'd speak to the underpaid educators in America. Share this post Link to post
Hans5849 0 Posted October 23, 2004 I watch the Cubs all the time at work, im always excited when they play/ And they all most had it this year Share this post Link to post
chickendippers 1 Posted October 24, 2004 Netball is also a lot harder than Basketball. I'm not knocking Basketball, it's really tiring, but Netball is harder because there is no backboard. I laugh at the NHL strike; bit pissed off though 'cos I was meant to go and see a match in Calgary when I was in Canada this week. I saw a Canadian Football match though (almost identical to American football) in the SkyDome on Thursday and I can now officially say that it is the most boring sport to watch in the history of sports. 1 hrs worth of play spread across 3 hours - now that's just poor. My Dad thought it was boring, and he's been to many cricket matches which have lasted several days. Share this post Link to post
Doctor Destiny 41 Posted October 24, 2004 Well cricket is boring. American football is exciting but better to play. Share this post Link to post

Doctor Destiny 41 Posted October 25, 2004 You don't know anything about American football; that's why you say its boring. Hockey's not American dude. It's Canadian. Share this post Link to post

chickendippers 1 Posted October 25, 2004 I don't know much about American football, but I've seen a game and the actuall play seemed like a distraction from the adverts, music and annoying comentator guy over the PA. Share this post Link to post
