Was there a Sonic Tank in TD?

I strongly remember building a lot of sonic tanks in TD but can't find anything about it on google. Do I remember correctly? It was probably GDI who had the tanks. It fired a blob of energi which did splash damage. Was it only in covert operations?

No, disruptors were introduced in Tiberian Sun. Though sonic tanks do exists in Dune 2 and Dune 2000.

There is a similar vehicle in one of the cut scenes, but as Tore said, it's not an actual unit in the game.

odd. the weapon ontop the tank looked like an antenna. and it shot blobs kinda lika the emp canon in TS. could this be from nyerguds patch?

Sounds like you had a mod that had a Mobile Radar Jammer/Mobile HQ unit sprite with that weapon, or you misremember things.

Sounds more and more like Dune 2 or Dune 2000 :P

 

Nyerguds' patch doesn't change gameplay or add new units.

The closest thing in the original C&C was this concept art and a 20 second cutscene where two GDI tanks get hit by a strange electrical charge and get disabled.

The ZH TDR mod brought the unit to life, however.

My patch doesn't add anything... it's a patch, not a mod. Well, there are some unit entries I added into the game as experiment, but those have always been disabled, and they never had any graphics anyway.

 

What you describe sounds a bit like a misremembered combination of the C&C1 visceroid and the Mobile HQ, though. Visceroids shoot green chem spray, and the Mobile HQ is a completely unarmed vehicle that serves as "flag" to protect in C&C1 CTF games where bases are disabled.
