I have the drivers that came with the video card. I tried updating but there isn't really any difference.

What version of DirectX have you got? It might be work upgrading to 9.0c (the latest version) which can be found at http://www.microsoft.com/windows/directx/default.aspx

I'd also recommend you run a windows update, or turn on your windows auto-updates to get the best out of your hardware and Windows Operating System...

Have you turned off Trilinear filtering and the other complex snazzy things that cards can do these days? Playing about with the settings endlessly should overcome most problems... and it took me a while having a GeForce 2 MX 400 :P

Just visit our Support Files section for the latest drivers page, http://www.cncnz.com/files/support/drivers.shtml

I'm not sure how it works for ATI card (I have an NVIDIA card), but you should be able to access the settings for your card by going to Control Panel and clickng on Display, then the Settings tab. Once in there click the Advanced button and their be an ATI tab in this window.

I use a Radeon 9200. It works well on the medium details setting. But I use the drivers included & did not update. Maybe use the old drivers & see if there is a improvement.

I have a 9250 128MB and seem to be having a similar problem, when i put the details on low sometimes in missions I cant even see my buildings or my units except for my infantry. I had a 9200se 128MB before this and i played reasonably on low detail and 1024*768, this tells me that it is the drivers. I have tried the original ones that come with the card, the Omega, and now im about to try the catalyst control center.

Here is what I do when game play becomes slow:

- Get a temp monitor (or if your an experienced user check temperature by touch). If it's overheating in a specific place (i.e. video card) then add another fan that cools that specific piece

- End non-critical processes, such as explorer.exe, file-sharing programs, ect

- Set game.bat priority to high

- Update drivers

- If all else fails, lower graphics

Another possibility is AI error. On certain maps, AI's keep building units but they get stuck due to cliffs (i.e., the base exist if toward the rear of the base and the front is blocked by a river/cliff) then the AI units will keep piling up, until you have thousands of units. Avoid certain maps in skirmish mode if this happens.
