The worst launches in PC gaming history

Recommended Posts

PC Gamer got a new article about this: http://www.pcgamer.com/the-worst-pc-game-launches/

Except some games weren't even mentioned in the list such as GTA IV, C&C4, Spore and Dishonored 2. But in my strong opinion, out of those worst game launches the worst of all is by no doubt..... C&C4 Tiberian Twilight. Not only it has one of the lowest scores in Steam, EA's incomplete, rushed and unpolished development plus constant Internet connection and numerous gaming flaws turn that into the worst game launch ever.

I would have to say the Tiberian Twilight launch was perhaps one of the best ever, because despite its low quality and dismal reception by C&C fans, it still held a place on the top ten sales charts for several weeks. If you can release a rotting pile of offal and still sell it like crazy, that is a pretty good launch, in my opinion.

Some of the older Paradox games had pretty bad launches. Hearts of Iron III was an unplayable, slow, buggy, crashing mess and it took days to make it mostly playable.

Thank the preorder culture and buying because of the name alone for that one, though.
