I think I have it, or had, my father used it. It's ok, when I looked, but my mother only likes to work with MS. I saw no problems in it.

Open Office beats MS office into the ground, i mean where else can you find software that MS sellf for $300 for free. Oh did i mention that it can read all your MS Office documents. Open Source all the way.

Nothing wrong with OpenOffice, you can't complain when its free

I've seen, briefly, never gave it a full test.

I use MS Office XP, got the whole package but I mostly use Word and Outlook.

As for the cost Office packages, they are a rip off, well here in NZ they are.

$199 is a lot of money, I can think of better things to buy for $199.

Stick with OpenOffice and buy yourself something cool with the $200 :)

MS OFfice Basic is $177 OEM $315 for Pro OEM (prices newegg USD), and Open Office has all the software of Pro minus Access. with the $200 you save you could buy yourself a Geforce 6600GT or a new set of tires for your car. I just about creamed in my pants when i first learned of Open Office because its saving me so much $, even though i have a coppy of Office that i got for free.

I think the worst problem with MS Office is that you need to pay for the whole bunch. Here, the only two program of the pack used are the Word and the Excel, but we can't pay only half price to get them. I think it's a good reason to d/l the Open Office.
