Acerz492 1 Posted April 24, 2005 *laughs* I know man. I'm just trying to point out the irony of those claims. It's downright idiotic. Good luck to SH then, let's hope that he dosen't stuff up or suddenly change his mind on the theory  Share this post Link to post
General immeyourenot 0 Posted April 24, 2005 or suddenly realise halfway through that maybe maintaining a black hole, & giving it some nice tubular fuel circling round earth isnt really a good idea after all, black holes have no substance, how can a magnetic tube hold one in is anyones guess Share this post Link to post
Acerz492 1 Posted April 24, 2005 Beats me, I hope someone with a little more scientific knowledge than the two of us could comment on the subject. Share this post Link to post
General immeyourenot 0 Posted April 24, 2005 yeah come on, give us a clue as to where we are wrong, tell us how steven hawkings magic black hole power plant works, im curious. plus its doubtful that either of us are science super-brains, i wasnt the last time i checked but you never know. On the subject of power plants im quite surprised that the world isnt yet prepared for immenant loss of coal, oil & natural gas, we only have 100, 20, & 30 years left of them. what is gonna happen when they gone & the world is without power until it builds some better plants? Acerz492 1 Posted April 24, 2005 Last time I checked I knew some stuff. But mostly Nuclear stuff. Not Black-hole-on-Earth-make-power-for-everyone stuff. I'm pretty sure we'll have Fusion before that happens however. To be honest I hope to be studying Nuke Physics soon, once I get settled into the RNZAF. I would like to be a part of the team that discovers how to work Fusion, if they haven't done so before then Share this post Link to post
General immeyourenot 0 Posted April 24, 2005 well the black hole idea was another crazy idea of steven hawkings, get a miniature black hole, put it in a magnectic tube & it (hopefully) circles the earth umpteen billion times a second creating enough power to power the entire planet like 600 times over, but i have my doubts, his brain is turning to mush & he still makes claims like that.. anyway, good look in finding the secret of fusion, if you find it you could always tell good ol' imme so he can flog it on the black market  Share this post Link to post
Acerz492 1 Posted April 24, 2005   Oh I'll make sure I do. I'll drop you a line here, or something. If CNCNZ is still around then. Share this post Link to post
General immeyourenot 0 Posted April 24, 2005 wonder how much you could actually sell it for... im guessing more than i would ever need in my entire life. if you get it you will be rich! Share this post Link to post
Waraddict 0 Posted April 24, 2005 As for calling the War on Terrorism WWIII, that's nothing but being dramatic, yes it IS world-wide but it's hardly even a war, trust me when I say you'll know when it's WWIII, errr... hopefully, if it doesn't happen too fast. As Einstein said "I know not of what weapons will be used in WWIII but sticks and stones will be used in WWIV" Keep in mind however, throughout all of the Cold War people were just as paranoid, if not more, it came quite close to WWIII, but it didn't happen. Share this post Link to post
General immeyourenot 0 Posted April 24, 2005 no, it didnt come close to WW3, it went far beyond that, during the cuban missile crisis when america was bitching hypocritically about a few missiles pointed at it the world came closer to nuclear holocaust than it ever had before & it ever has since. Thierry 0 Posted April 24, 2005 If world war 3 even does start, it will kill a lot more people then in WW2.... Whats with the trend of posting in old topics Share this post Link to post
General immeyourenot 0 Posted April 24, 2005 If world war 3 even does start, it will kill a lot more people then in WW2....[/size] Yeah, considering not all that many people were killed in world war 2 it wouldnt be hard to beat. much more were killed in world war 1 Share this post Link to post
Thierry 0 Posted April 24, 2005 Well, the count in WW1 was pretty different then from WW2, in WW2 about 50 millions people lost their lives, of which 25 were russian of which 17.5 million where civilians killed by Stalin's ''cleansing/purification'' period In total, 22 Million soldiers and otherwise where killed, against 28 Million civilians Share this post Link to post
Waraddict 0 Posted April 24, 2005 Yes, WWI and WWII were quite different wars, it was in WWII that targeting civilians became part of modern war strategy, it really didn't help in discouraging this new strategy when the US nuked Japan but well, that's history now and it's not very likely nuclear bombs would be deliberately used ever again by a nation against another nation due to Mutually Assured Destruction. General immeyourenot 0 Posted April 24, 2005 but just remember how dangerous a madman gone over the edge can be, especially a losing madman with an arsenal of nuclear weaponry. if said madman thinks his own life may be in danager he may do everything in his power to instigate M.A.D. Share this post Link to post
Leona 0 Posted April 24, 2005 That is of course assuming somehow that a psycopathic, homocidal lunatic gets into power over a country with nuclear capability, however how likely do you really think that is? Firstly madmen generally don't end up in poisitons of power, you could argue that Hilter & Stalin were "madmen", but I would disagree, they may have been wrong in what they did, but they were both inspirational leaders with grand design in mind. Secondly America has decided that it is world police force, & now it would be bad for "global safety" to let anyone who the Americans didn't back 100% into power. So all in all, it is not likely that anyone will be put in that situation. Share this post Link to post
Waraddict 0 Posted April 24, 2005 Well Hitler, atleast coming to his end, was completely mad as he was at the height of his paranoia and drug use. While it's debatable whether Hitler was truely mad however, Stalin WAS someone who had a mental problem as he had a history of being EXTREMELY paranoid and violent. However, neither ever got their hands on a nuclear bomb, its likely however that even individuals this mad in posession of a nuclear bomb would be sane enough not to use it in war but if it did get to the position where they have nothing to lose, well... it seems quite likely. Even more concerning is the mix of extremist Eastern philosophy and nuclear bombs, North Korea for instance if prompted wrongly could go on a country wide Kamikazee by launching nukes and provoking nuclear retaliation, remember Japan had intended to fight until every last one of them were dead even if they were losing. Still though, M.A.D. would most likely prevent any wars between nuclear armed countries, it may seem like a narrow line to cross but the line is thicker then it was during the Cold War. GeneralZ 0 Posted April 25, 2005 my friends really believe i would like a WWIII.....It would be interesting but deadly......should hear the discussions we had... My school a very good school.....ranked number 1 public school in New York...its called Hunter High School..Theres and elementary section...and the kids there are boisterous and dont show us high school students any respect....so we talked about how to elimate them.... we said stuff like filling a room with toys and leading them there...then gassing the room....or giving the most reckless kid some explosives and telling him not to push the trigger...it was actually quite funny: "Hey, u can have this packs of C4s kid.." "but what is a C4?" "u'll see...just dont press the button...i wont give it to u if u do" "ok,,i won't" "here u go..." "Haha..i;m going to push the button..and u cant stop me...haha...push..........BOOOM!!! " no wonder some of them think i'm insane... Share this post Link to post
Cygnus X-1 12 Posted April 25, 2005 http://www.funnyjunk.com/pages/world.htm Now, in case of nuclear war, just dig a hole. Share this post Link to post
Acerz492 1 Posted April 25, 2005 Hahaha, I've seen that before Cygnus. "Now, assuming we don't blow ourselves up, us Californians just have to worry about California breaking of from the United States. To go hang with Hawaii. Alaska can come too. THE END!"   Now is there anyone who could answer immeyournot and I's question? Lol, I wouldn't want a WWIII. What's NZ gunna do in it? Throw stones, drink beer and whack enemy soldiers over the head with sticks? Share this post Link to post
Mina Synd 0 Posted April 25, 2005 o.o see i was gonna make a comment on a certain continent surviving everything in event of WW3 based on that video... XD; anyway o.o;;; in my spare time, being the paranoid i am, i study things like global warming and whatnot... if you check it out, all the events, we got maybe 20 - 30 years (definately in our lifetime whatever the case) that there is going to be a big bad global problem. plus there is the whole korea thing... so if that doesn't happen before the global thing, the US and korea will pause to help the crappy nearby countries that are all underwater or whatever (hopefully) if the US/Korea thing happens first, then chances are it will be nuclear/biological/chemical weaponary, which would assure the global warming thing speeding up. either way most of us are screwed (UK will be under water, NZ/aust will be burnt to a crisp, the america's will have major hot and cold climate problems due to the air currents and most of europe will be uninhabitable) and i'm no genius either (got an average IQ of 136 so in theory i can scrape an entry into MENSA but i'd be one of the lowest IQ's there if i actually got in. which i guess makes me over average, but no genius lol) Share this post Link to post
Cygnus X-1 12 Posted April 26, 2005 I read it was more like 30-40 years. Any way, its garunteed a major war would drastically speed things up. BTW the Gulf of Mexico coast of the US would be partially sunk. Share this post Link to post
