A good city fight

Before I begin...I'd like to take a moment to say woo my first topic on here....now thats out my system I'll begin my rant.

 

I played through Generals and Zero Hour like everyone else and I played through the skirmish maps like everyone else and I felt like I'd been cheated of something in the skirmishes that wasn't in the missions. playing through mods, I played Blitzkrieg 2 and I realised what it was that was missing - a good city fight map/set of maps. there was a mission playing as China against the GLA where you had to fight them building to building using carpet bombing, artillery and dragon tanks BUT you had to be careful to not go too quickly or the demo traps would get you - I enjoyed that mission a lot because of how tactical and precise you had to be when moving through the city eliminating the GLA while trying to avoid those terrorists or the angry mod waiting for you around the corner, because in street combat - you're foo-bared if they catch you.

 

Anyway, rant over I was wondering if anyone else felt the same about this and if there are any good maps with AI that can actually street fight smartly - I want to have a good urban brawl.

 

NB - this could be considered a challenge aswell, to anyone who wants an online skirmish battle on a dense urban map.

yep i would love to find someone who

A. has a good urban map

B. if it isnt inf only will ony use gen upps and inf

 

i will play you if i see you im norm in 3v3 im foring my own clan on friday (hopefully) and will post it on the site in the Thread im gona make in..... 30 sec.

DOnt know of any good urban maps for Generals/ZH, but I agree with you on missing out on the urban sprawl, street, and house to house fighting. But it would seem to me that Urban fighting really goes to the infantry, thus making an FPS possible more desireable for street fighting.

yeah - but i miss being able to command a platoon of dragon tanks through a city not knowing where demo traps, gla mobs or jarmen kell are while clearing buildings

take a troop crwaler with you to see the demo traps.

 

Kel was always fun to deal with. You have your Overlord group attacking, and suddenly the one with the prop tower goes all gray, then one with a gat cannon, the a GLA rebel ambush takes them for the GLA. Fun times

i think i know exactly what youre thinking...

 

how about...

 

a "Black hawk down" map! :D:D

 

wouldnt that be the greatest? i dont mean a MP map, but something like a singleplayer mission... you have to command all the units (all the chalks, super 6-1 thru 6-9, all the snipers, and rangers, you get the ranger drops (like in the movie) and you would have to rescue the pilot crews, and of course, theres the angry mobs and rebels, and the RPG people, and the technicals...

 

if well made, this map could be very very VERY fun. :P

Kinda like the Generals shell map.

 

See? I keep sayin they should make more in-building missions like from RA, now we want street fighting.

Yup the second to last allied mission on ra OWNS i love it its so damn hard i had 2 sec left when i did it and i finaly compleated ra on hard both campains. but ra3 :pray::pray::pray::pray::pray: should have indor and city maps.

Yup, that game deals urban city scape combat really nicely. Occupiable buildings in that game have "room" system, which allows individual solders to be killed from outside sources like tanks, has occupiable roof (helis can land on it too), snipers can snipe units inside buildings if the sniper has clear sight of the units (4 sides per building), and soldiers can try to take over occupied buildints (just like how you can drop rangers into occupied building in generals).

 

I don't know about others, but to me the instant building clearing units (ranger, inferno tank, etc) seem to discourage good old urban city scape fighting in generals, so perhaps with those turned off people can enjoy more city fighting.

yer flashbangs should only kill one man at a time or somin there waaaay too powerfull now 10 gis can kill a mini gun trooper rush without damage now :evil: so theres one tactic gone....... But assult transports dont give a monkeys about flashbangs :twisted:

dont forget Toxin tractors. They could clear a building in one shot. Hated that, especially on the chinese campaign

I recall a semi-mission map where you had to use some UN vehicles, and one of the Prison trucks or whatever its called...it was a good urban one, as you had to be careful when you came to alleyways and stuff...I'll go look for it.

Isnt the *Best* urban, but I liked it.

CnC Files has a bunch of Urbanish maps that are multiplayer, look around there.
