WWE: Eddie Guerrero passes away

Recommended Posts

Shocking news I've seen today, this is something to shock WWE fans

WWE is deeply saddened by the news that Eddie Guerrero has passed away. He was found dead Sunday morning in his hotel room in Minneapolis. Eddie is survived by his wife Vickie and daughters Shaul, 14, Sherilyn, 9, and Kaylie Marie, 3.

The cause of death is unknown at this time. An autopsy will be performed in Minneapolis on Monday, and Eddie's body will then be flown to Arizona. Funeral arrangements are set for Thursday.

R.I.P. Eddie Guerrero

Fantastic talent, and he was getting so much momentum going towards the Triple Threat on SD. Such a crying shame he's gone.

The fake kind of wrestling but thats not the point here. The man has lost his life. A real shame. I couldn't believe it when I saw the news on the local NZ wrestling site I visit then I watched the press conference video on WWE.com.

Both RAW and SmackDown will be very different shows this week.

Vince McMahon said that BOTH the RAW and Smackdown tapings tonight would be dedicated to Eddie and that the workers who will appear on the shows are doing so voluntary. He also said that they will work as "human beings, not so much as performers."

It was an emotional RAW last night. So unusual to see men, usually so powerful reduced to tears. The individual tributes where the wrestlers recall some of their best memories of Eddie were very moving.

When you get to watch RAW Sonic, this show was way less fake than normal. There were some occasions where you'd expect a light punch, turning into full blows. There is a fine line between real and fake on this show, I just have to refer to hell in the cell matches and any match involving some sort of weapon. It's leathal, hence why alot of these wrestlers die so suddenly.

It's great to see the brands put aside as a mark of respect and have some great Smackdown Vs RAW Matches. The Rey Mysterio Vs Shawn Micheals Match last night was a particular highlight. Below, 2 photos which really sum up the whole night.

Damn you can see Chris Benoit (the one in middle with Eddie's "I'm your papi" shirt) taking it really hard. Which is no surprise, those to were so close they were like brothers.

I have to wait until Friday night for RAW and then Smackdown on Sunday.

The matches last night were above the usual standard and nothing like stupid interference etc, just plain good ole wrestling matches.

I have to say, I was suprised to see Dean Malenko last night, I thought he was dead

The autopsy report is in.. latest news on WWE.com

After the untimely passing of Eddie Guerrero, WWE and the entire sports-entertainment community is still reeling from the devastating loss of a champion. The initial autopsy reports on Guerrero have come in. WWE.com spoke with Eddie’s widow, Vickie Guerrero, earlier today.

“It was heart failure. It was from his past – the drinking and the drug abuse. They found signs of heart disease. She (the examiner) said that the blood vessels were very worn and narrow, and that just showed all the abuse from the scheduling of work and his past. And Eddie just worked out like crazy all the time. It made his heart grow bigger and work harder and the vessels were getting smaller, and that’s what caused the heart failure. He went into a deep sleep.

As soon as they saw his heart, they saw the lining of his heart already had the heart disease. There was no trauma, and Eddie hadn’t hurt himself in any way. It answered a lot of questions. I knew Eddie wasn’t feeling very good for the last week. He was home and kept saying he wasn’t feeling good and we thought it was just “road tired.” So we thought he just had to rest. It answered a lot of my questions, too, because he was just so exhausted. She said it was normal because the heart was working so hard.

When he didn’t call me last night and the night before I knew it was for real, because he would call me every night. I miss his phone calls. I cried through the whole thing (last night).

I loved his laugh. His laugh was the best.

We just celebrated his four-year sobriety last Thursday. We just thought we had life by the handful. We thought we had it all figured out. He worked so hard to make a better life for us.

I’m just overwhelmed by how people are coming out. It’s touched my heart a lot.

Everybody was just in awe last night in how beautifully everything was put together.

All my life was wrestling. All he did was take care of them and live for that. And I don’t know what to do now.”

So it was heart failure & disease through his life with drugs and his working out.... not a way to go at the age of 38

I hadn't kept up with it for a while. I was watching up until Goldberg got less popular. He lives in my hometown, or used to. Or somewhere close. I don't know. He sat next to me on a plane one time. He's a cool guy.

Guerrero was cool too. He'll be missed by many a person.

From what I know of Eddie, he was a liar, he was a cheat, he was a theif, but despite the angle he played he was perhaps the most beloved wrestler today up to his tragic death. I know the WWE will struggle without his talents and his personnality, and I know the WWE talent and fans will sorely miss him. Throughout life he has been regarded as a legend, up there with the likes of Hulk Hogan, Brett Hart and Ric Flair. Now that he has passed on he joins those legends who are no longer with us. People such as Andre the Giant, Yokozuna, Owen and Stu Hart, and Freddie Blasie. Truely a remarkable human being.

I always liked his theme song.

I have every Eddie theme song in my comp.

The best song I like was Eddie and one gal call chanya or something.

Most of his theme song has the word "LATINO HEAT!"

I love that word.
