rEdaSbLood 1 Posted December 13, 2005 well im in new york..and by me it isnt the same as in the city..(manhattan as we call it)....there are alot of stores around and it gets very crowded like in flushing...but i live in a nice neighborhood for the most part..not crowded and not polluted as much as the city Share this post Link to post
Luk3us 63 Posted December 13, 2005 lol, you even got your learners yet? Do I even have to answer that question? Jeez... I'll take that as a No then... Share this post Link to post
Acerz492 1 Posted December 13, 2005 I have my learners, you dolt. Share this post Link to post
TheBlackOut 7 Posted December 13, 2005 In the UK is everything really huddled up? Here in the west coast of the US, we drive EVERYWHERE. Well, that might explain why 3/5 of our nation is overweight. But I'm not! Don't forget Texas. We are the second biggest state so we have to drive, I would rather walk but everything is like 5 miles away. Texas > Alaska Share this post Link to post
F15pilotX 4 Posted December 13, 2005 Hmm...a 512MB DDR2 GeForce 6600 video card-I still can't believe the good price-and, well, mabye 512MB of RAM....that's all I can think of right now Share this post Link to post
TheBlackOut 7 Posted December 14, 2005 Hmm.... My video card I am getting  Hmmm, I have never done this before but... Yippie! 700th post. Share this post Link to post
F15pilotX 4 Posted December 14, 2005 Hmm, only differences are that yours has dual DVI and mine single, you have DDR3 as compared to DDR2, and mine's $230.00 less  Share this post Link to post
BWare 0 Posted December 14, 2005 F15.... are you serious? The difference between the 6600 and 7800 chip is MASSIVE. The one you're getting is almost laughable when you look at these next gen cards. Yours doesn't even need a fan on the heatsink! Even my 6800 ultra oc isn't holding up as well as it used to in newer games, like FEAR for instance. I also have a 6600 in a different computer, and it can't hold a candle to my 6800. The 7800 is much, much more powerful than the 6800. Share this post Link to post

F15pilotX 4 Posted December 14, 2005 I know.....I was kinda, but not really serious.....pfff, the 6600 is all I can afford right now, and at least it'll probably be able to run EAW decently....a lot better than my current 64MB GeForce 4  Share this post Link to post

But if you're going to be spending the extra $$ for the 512 MB, you should know that it gives you no performance boost of any kind. Even the next gen cards out there only have 256 MB. Games now barely even take advantage of that memory. If I were you, I'd find a faster chip with less memory. You'll basically have 256 MB more than you'll need with that card. Saracen 16 Posted December 15, 2005 That's it, I can't take this anymore... AFter my holiday in Florida I'm saving up to build a new Next-Gen PC... My P4 2Ghz with Radeon 9250 and 180w PSU just don't cut the mustard.. It did 4 years ago, but this is just depressing  Share this post Link to post
Acerz492 1 Posted December 15, 2005 That's the thing I hate about PC's. The second you get an awsome Next-Gen PC, it becomes outdated the next day. Share this post Link to post

Saracen 16 Posted December 15, 2005 Yep, the other alternative is a Radeon X1800 XT 512MB PCI Express... only costs $500 Share this post Link to post
BWare 0 Posted December 15, 2005 Oh that's quite a deal King! However, if you don't want to drop 500 dollars on a video card, you may even consider a 6800 with 256 MB of memory- I think you can get some really good deals on that. Your motherboard has an AGP slot, right? My guess is yes, and it's good because AGP cards are quite a bit cheaper than the newer PCI Express technology (overrated, in my opinion ) Basically, I would encourage you to shop around and find the best (fastest) card in your price range with only 256 MB of memory, because it's all you'll really ever need for gaming (at least for as long as you'll have this computer). F15pilotX 4 Posted December 15, 2005 Hmm....this seems like a good one...Chaintech GeForce 6600 / 256MB DDR / AGP 8x / DVI / HDTV / Video Card Share this post Link to post
BWare 0 Posted December 15, 2005 Yeah man, that seems pretty solid- I have a similar card, and it is really good. Not cutting edge of course, but a really great card nontheless. It should handle pretty much every modern game pretty well. Share this post Link to post
F15pilotX 4 Posted December 15, 2005 Well, I think I'll shell out the extra $90 for the 6800...what do you guys think? by the way, the 6600 is $110 and the 6800 is $200  Share this post Link to post
TheBlackOut 7 Posted December 15, 2005 I would recommend a Geforce 6800. for the money and they can play most games at dazzling speeds. C&C King... Ya. Well my old computer was only 20 GB and my processor 1 GHz. Share this post Link to post
F15pilotX 4 Posted December 15, 2005 Well, I was thinking of this one, but that actually looks a lot better for only $20 more Share this post Link to post
Acerz492 1 Posted December 16, 2005 I think it's time for me to upgrade as well. My Geforce 5900 just isn't cutting it. Share this post Link to post
F15pilotX 4 Posted December 16, 2005 It doesn't seem too bad, but yeah, an upgrade to a 6800/7800 would be good for us both Share this post Link to post
Acerz492 1 Posted December 16, 2005 It's like what I said in another thread: The drawback of having a wonderfully awsome computer is the fact it becomes outdated within the first week of having it. I tell ya what, I'm sick of being 5 years behind everyone else. I'll definately put my money away for this one. Share this post Link to post
