Nope, just realistic. I've been studying the stuff pretty in depth... and yeah, it's not like a virus where you can find a cure-all vaccination or a bacterial infection that you can kill off with drugs. There's really no universal way to end cancer... it's just individual cells going haywire. It's a freak thing, but you have trillions of cells. There's really no way around it.

 

Maybe something crazy like nanotechnology will hold the key. Who knows? But I would be AMAZED if cancer was no longer an issue by the end of our lives.

We can help cancer patients. What about people with AIDS? We can't rid them of that yet. Surely that would be a far greater miracle than eliminating cancer.

Not true at ALL from a biological perspective, and hell... I have a cure for that already. I will never get AIDS. Why you ask? Because I'll stay abstinent till I'm married, and then never cheat on my wife. Simple as that- another life saved by good old fasioned values. So barring any freak accidents or a tainted future wife :wink:, I'll never get it. Cancer is much worse. It can strike anyone at any time. AIDS of course (and I say this very carefully) is gotten in many, many cases through acts of either wild, unprotected sex, or drug use (needle sharing). It is of COURSE a tragedy when someone gets it through a bad blood transfusion or is born with it, but I'm just saying.... you KNOW how to avoid it, but cancer strikes indiscriminately.

People in Africa are born with it now though... And they can stay abstinent and never know they have AIDS, get married, then spread the virus to their spouce and offspring.

Right.... but with every disease of that type, it spreads only by body fluids to body openings. It's not like a cold. You don't shake hands with someone, wake up and realize, "oh no! I just got AIDS! Bummer!" It's not easy to spread it. In Africa yes, it is SO rampant that it's truly a problem, but I was talking about western countries for the most part. But your point about curing AIDS being a bigger thing than cancer..... no, not in any way at all.

I hate to break it to ya kid but even though you may never cheat on her, what's to stop her from cheating from you? It happens to even people who believe strongly in those values. But that's just my pessemism coming through here.

one of my friends said the solution to AIDs was to kill everyone has has it. That would eliminatie the disease and any more outbreaks.

He was talking about HIV, (cancer isn't contagious :roll:), but even then, the virus is VERY durable.

and i didnt mean that we should give in to our natural urges, but to not ignore them..because we are for the most part logical and social animals
