YR Top Three Tactics?

Recommended Posts

Ok, first, I'm new to this forum so dont, butcher me... erm... I've only just gained internet access, and well, considering my only real experience is playing this (YR) on LAN, I can't say I'm the most formidable of opponents. I was just wondering if their were 3 top tips you guys would give a player to pick up. What would they be?

I know I'll probably be insulted to near death for being a n00b. But I'm just curious as to what top tips you guys and girls have.

Oh, my preferred side is, Allies, normally either Great Britain or Germany for the defensive style of the "Country specials".

Hope you guys can help an online newbie.

Build power. Then Barracks. Then a dog for scouting. Then oil refinery. Then war factory. Build a miner, then a tank, then two miners, then keep building tanks.

Do not stop building units. You need to build units. But also continue to build your base. Go ahead and build a battle lab or whatever you want, but don't waste all your money on one tactic that uses like 5 units. You will fail if you try that *cough*_Gryphon*cough*

Build a huge army of tanks, but don't forget to build air defence as well. Most people like building tons of helicopters as a soviet, floating disks as yuri, and rocketeers as allied.

And, just attack with the tanks, but make sure you have a huge squad of tanks sitting at your base for defense.

Use different units to complement each other. send Guardian GIs with Regular GIs so that you can fight tanks, air craft, and infantry. One Rocket IFV and one Machine Gun IFV put together make really effective scouts. I find that building a bunch of grizzly tanks and a handful of IFVs with a variety of units in them (at least one should be an engineer) make a great offensive force. Elite (promoted twice) grizzlies are great against buildings and elite Rocket IFVs are devestating against certain air craft (particularly kirovs).

Money is a factor, so have a lot of ore miners. stealing a soviet base with an engineer is useful as well, because tesla troopers in IFVs are awesome.

There are also simple things to remember, like to use robot tanks against Yuri. NEVER use something like a battle fortress against him. Snipers in IFVs are swell, because they move fast and kill infantry instantly.

wow, i really advertised IFVs :P

I think you make them sound a little better than they are... because they are!!! :P:P:P

In any case, getting an engineer into an enemy base is Incredibly hard.

My best tactic with ifv's is to do the following.

build 4 ifv's, 1 spy, and 3 GI's. Disguise the spy as the enemy conscript, and put all the units into the ifv's.

Send them to the enemy base. They will destroy the GI's and IFV's, but usually don't notice the spy. (of course, this won't work if they have Yuri or Dogs, but usually nobody builds dogs anymore)

These guys are a bit lacking when it comes to build orders.

Here's mine: Power -> barracks -> refinery -> war factory -> miner, miner -> radar -> refinery -> another wf if the money's good. After that, tech up if the game lasts that long. Also, construct barracks across the map to stretch to ore and plop down a new refinery to keep your money flowing.

More tidbits:

- Get 2 dogs, Brutes if Yuri, to scout the map. The faster you find the enemy, the easier it is to plan your moves accordingly.

- If you're feeling jaunty, get a few tanks before your extra miners after your wf. You might catch your enemy offguard if you're quick enough.

- If you want to play evil, be Cuba and load a pair of Tracks with Terrorists as fast as you can. You might catch your opponent offguard. If he has a few tanks, run your Tracks up next to his refinery or war factory. Even if the Track is destroyed, your men will pop out and blow up.

- If you're Allied, make Harriers/Black Eagles. Have a squad of 2 attempt to pick off tanks or attack miners with all 4.

- If you're America, get a radar before you get a war factory and get 6 IFVs. Put the free GIs in your IFVs and mix with tanks.

- If you're opponent is Allied and you want to be Soviet, go with Iraq and get Desolators to ward off Mirage Tanks and Prism Tanks. Deploy your Desolators and watch the Mirage Tanks go up in smoke and radiation.

- You can do my personal favorite. Pick Libya, get a radar before your wf. Get a DTruck and send it at your enemy. If you're quick enough, you should get a couple of vital structures. This can backfire easily so be sure you can pull it off before attempting.

- Deploy Siege Choppers on cliffsides to keep out of reach of units.

- Always watch for an Engineer rush so wall off your Construction Yard.

- If you're playing a naval map and someone is Allied, watch for Dolphin batallions.

- Attack Yuri players quickly before they can really tech up. If they get a radar, you're pretty ****ed.

If I think of anything else, I'll post it.

Well, at least I dont reek of ineptitude, your building strategy is almost the same as mine :| though without the second warfactory... still I cant help but feel when somewhat doomed when I go onto the internet battleground. Meh, probably best to get burned 50 times as long as I begin becoming more of a threat.

Build orders don't vary too often. Some prefer to do it different ways but I've found that the way I do it seems to work pretty well. The key to the game is keeping your economy flowing and your tank production fast. Scouting is vital as well so you can see what your opponent is up to. Just keep things like that in mind and you should fare pretty well. You might lose but you may also give your enemy a run for his money.

Economy-Always take in more money than what your spending. If not the case build more refineries or miners where needed. Protect these units at all times. Take out enemy miners when you can.

Intel-Scout out the map ASAP. Map out where the enemy is from you. Create a plan for defense and offense attacks for you. Prevent your enemy from scouting about. Radar and Spysatillite are great to take out before an assault.

Armor-Tanks is all it really comes down to. They are mobile, better than building normal defences. Build them in combos, every two or three tanks build a counterpart. IFV+Grizzly or Flak Track+Rhino are the simple ones to go by. Stay low tech in the early stages of the game. Throw distractions at your enemy while you build your armor up. Once your group is ready attack from two different sides if possible.

its a secret....

I'll show you it i you face me

cygnus knows....we pulled it off and mauled our enemies last 2v2 we played

I'll just say its different from all yours, complicated IFV thingies, etc.

1. ALWAYS build your first War Factory in the back of your base. Seriously, there is nothing worse than losing your original war factory in a rush. They are quite possibly the most important structure next to the CY.

2. When you have spare cash, build more miners. Again, the more miners you have the better your income will be. If your Allied you can practically pump out Miners without any hesitation. As Soviet you should probably build 1 Ore Refinery per 4 Miners.

3. Play to your armies strengths. As an Allied Player use your superior infantry forces and your quicker forces to advantage. Always move around and combine Prism Tanks with Mirage Tanks. And Grizzlies with Guardian GI Battle Fortresses. As Soviets you should use your superior ground forces. Always throw your Rhino's in your opponents face and always pick off the vehicles and structures before anything else so you can get the best out of their forces. Keep your Apoc's escorted with Desolators for maximum effect. And always keep Flak Tracks in your base. As Yuri your better off annoying everyone's units. As Yuri Prime just control the best unit outside a base. And take over the most expensive things too. A force of Virus, Brutes, Lashers, Gattling Tanks, Masterminds and Magnetrons is a force to be reckoned with. Annoy your opponent with the Magnetron. Then when they come out to destroy you, use your respecitive units.

are you talking about a harrier/black eagle strike or the 40 grizzly rush? oops! did I give it away?

Best Tactic Ever: Build Buildings, then units. Stay Alive. Use any experience you have and just wing it. don't be predictable. The game is totally different depending on who you are up against. Do something you think will suprise them. But NEVER let your guard down. I really advise having GGIs in your base because it really sucks when someone attacks you with over thirty grizzlies. Cygnus and GeneralZ are bound to try it.

I always like to use this tactic with Yuri-build 15 initiates, then 10 Brutes, then a few Yuri Clones, then 3 Viruses.I ussually build 3 barracks and 5-6 miners,so I am defended.I send this force near the enemy base somewhere around minute 3-4 and ussually get him surprized.

Also,a good tactic is to build 20 lashers and gattling tanks + a few Yuri Clones. That destroys the opposition before it can even get a battlelab...

Meh, my tactic is to be random as possible. more entertaining that way. ;)

@Fenring - Yeah, that can be beaten, but only if it's the only attacked with this force. But if there are 3 groups of 5 Lashers and 3 gattlings, each pointed at an important structure and a few other units attacking from all sides, the enemy will get confused the first time and it's very likely to loose.

Yes,but if correctly pulled up,this tactic will give me,the attacker 30 seconds of undefended base. And I would destroy it with Initiates and Brutes,Viruses attack the infantry and incase the tanks return, there are Yuri Clones. If there are any defences,I have brought 5 lashers to take care of them. And while I'm anihilating his base,I build up to Battlelab level and build YP and masterminds to completely destroy the opposition incase he/she destroyed my tsk forces.

This is very complicated. And it takes exact timing. But it works very well.

Fear my Airstrike in the 5 minute with 12 harriers pointed at your MCV...

This tactic ussually fails, but when it works....

My tactic:

Soviets: Just build everything; if you have a battle lab just keep building apocs. Build a second or third factory to increase production.

Allies: The same thing; But then prisms and mirage tanks.

Yuri: Picking this side will mean you will have almost unlimited money  Just build all sorts of units and you'll be fine.

And if you're facing Yuri you'd better pick Allies. Not a single Yuri unit that can beat a pack of prisms, except the Floating Disk!

Fear my Airstrike in the 5 minute with 12 harriers pointed at your MCV...

This tactic ussually fails, but when it works....

Then your enemy simply builds a new MCV

Inferno, Rhino Tanks are most cost effective. They are unparalleled by any tank. And with an IP, their cost drops to $675. They're far better in packs than the Apocalypse. I can crank out Rhinos faster than you will trying to bulk up on Apocs.

If you pick Iraq and Britian, you have the best chance of winning against a Yuri player.

I saw an Apoc crushing 2 german Tank Destroyers, without even having a scratch. I never saw two Rhino's doing that. Second, Apocs are much more effective against buildings. Though I must say, Rhino's are better in a quick attack.

why rhinos?? grizzlys cheaper and faster to make. get a bunch off within 2 minutes and have them speeding off to ur base. dead in no time....no chance for 12 harriers...i wont give u time for that.

and 12 harriers? me and cygnus can pull off a 6 black eagle rush under 3 minutes. that wiped out s conyard but leaves u wide open for a tank assault....so u have team games like 2v2 or 3v3

Rhino's have a better armor and better attack power, for just a little bit more money and production time.

Anyway, I'll just stick to prisms and apocs.
