Sonic had mario beat right from the start and always DID have em beat. thop, the newer games tend to be more and more dissapointing each time, hence why i still have out my Genesis 1 (The big one with the headphone port) and enjoy 16 bit at its finest. but hell, even the 8 bit game gear beat the crap outta the nintento -- just wasnt as well advertised (and an insane battery hog). :/

Not really since they're completely different genres of games. That's like saying Black is better than Final Fantasy 7. It's a false comparison. Now if you'd have said Sly Cooper is better than Mario, that would have been acceptable since they're both platformer/action-y type games.

Well most of the characters in Resident Evil simply pwn all over Mario and Sonic. Ditto for Revan, who has to be undoubtably one of the coolest characters ever.

Hehe, indeed - I still have the Mega Drive with sonic the hedgehog to, I thought Desert Strike was better though (and when I look back at it, it's THE game that made EA as big as it is now today). Their quality has gone down a lot though, which is a shame...
