Aliens dropship

I was watching the extended edition on Aliens on the weekend. This may have been covered before but does anyone else think weeswood did some copying when making GDI units?[/img]

Obviously they travelled into the future saw how cool the vehicles were in C&C and such and stole them.

Does it really matter? I for one would love to have a real Aliens dropship over an orca as it has the APC inside!

 

but then again look at any si-fi game or film. All the Landers/air craft look simmilar to the Orca or dropship. Its just one of them things.

Westwood's inspiration came from all sorts of movies, books, anime etc.

 

Like in Aliens, that dropship based on the Orca

 

In TS the Mammoth MkII is based off the Star Wars AT-AT

 

TS Again the end Nod movie is based on the 2nd Star Trek Movie which focussed on the Genesis project.

 

And the most obvious one is Tiberian Dawn's Nod storyline which has numerous references to the Bible... The list can go on and on....

Oh yeah.. the Biblical references are huge in the Tiberian storyline. Even bigger though are the "inspirations" drawn from the Dune universe. Seriously, the similarities there are very deep. In fact, that may be a good article topic.... hmmmm........

Aliens was released in 1986 so I think most of the borrowing from it and not by it.

 

What made me think orca was the view from the ground when it's comming over the peaks and in to land.

look in the C&C ecyclopedia, that ariticle is already there :wink:

 

that drop ship looks cool, but there is one like it as a carryover vxl in RA2. Was supposed to be in TS, but scrapped and just left in the mix files.

 

BTW a ton of hte space required by RA2 is just carryover junk from TS and a few "extras"
