TheBlackOut 7 Posted May 9, 2006 Here's a snip of it: "May 9, 2006 - One of the most popular franchises in RTS gaming is Command & Conquer. Westwood helped bring the genre into existence with Dune II and then turned and cemented its popularity with C&C right after. The franchise is an interesting mix by itself having three different universes inside the brand. We figured it was only a matter of time before EA resurrected the series (how could you not when it's been so popular?) so it was really a matter of which universe would get the next treatment. Our money was actually on Red Alert again, but the developers decided to go back to the franchise roots and bring back some good old Tiberium fun. We'll have a chance to check in on the game a bit more on Wednesday when we see EA, but Executive Producer Mike Verdu was nice enough to tide us over with a bit of info before the show even started. Below you'll find plenty of new info about the story, AI, single player campaign, vehicles, engine improvements and more. So check the interview along with the first three screens of the game and look for more info tomorrow!" - IGN Interview http://pc.ign.com/articles/705/705757p1.html Good read. BWare 0 Posted May 9, 2006 Excellent interview with some great new info... and also, to me at least, the final revelation of the third faction. It will be the Scrin, and I'm absolutely convinced of it. Apparently they will have, in addition to the giant moving bases, the ability to "summon and control" ion storms. What other possibility could there be besides the Scrin? I have very, very mixed feelings about this move.... Share this post Link to post
TheBlackOut 7 Posted May 9, 2006 They have to pull it off brillantly for me to be pleased. I am VERY conservative and I like the ideas of what they are doing except this one... I wouldn't mind a 3rd side one more game down, but I wanted one more game with just a GDI & Nod struggle. Oh well... The interview said it'd be revealing more history and stuff.... EXCELLENT! Sonic 295 Posted May 9, 2006 Awesome!!!! the return of the classic sidebar Share this post Link to post
-NickoheaD- 0 Posted May 9, 2006 Awesome!!!! the return of the classic sidebar Yup, great news. What do they mean by 'centralized production queues' though? Just interested. And has it yet been confirmed whether or not they'll be returning to the classic style of building? I really don't want any more of those dozers. Share this post Link to post

Luk3us 63 Posted May 9, 2006 Sidebar? Bah, who cares about the side bar. I want pictures. Share this post Link to post
Cygnus X-1 12 Posted May 9, 2006 I want to see some Tiberium in those pics. The lack thereof is quite noticeable. Those 2 GDI Tiberium Silos were deffinetly not enough However....look at that water. Just look at it. Whew....This is gona be hellas sweet. But enough GDI pics, lets see some mutants, tiberium flora fauna, creatures, Nod....and get this. All thta Tacitus information, all of that "key" for GDI to decode and reverse the Tiberium plague....gone in an instant, thanks to Nod. :kane: Haha, there will be no "cure" anytime soon. Especially with GDI reeling from Nod assaults, and the third side attacks (please be forgotten with "surprise" technology (ie scrin assistance, or more crash site tech). Wouldnt it be an awesome twist, if Kane, the one who embraced the plague and ultimatley led the way in spreading it was "betrayed" by the scrin (in a way) and they choose the Forgotten to be their allies. No dirrect intervention (at least not until the next game ) but we see "mysterious" events occuring. Would that not be cool? Then next game, we can have Kane/Cabal go at it with hte Scrin/ Forgotten, with GDI barely holding on, and maybe even a Forgotten Rebbelion/Backstab of or by the Scrin. Soooo many possibilities..... kingjolly 0 Posted May 10, 2006 With the return of the 'classic sidebar,' will building be like the one found in RA1,RA2,TD, and TS, where you are forced to build your base adjacent to other parts of your base in a limited area? I hope the building system in CnC3 is similar to the one found in Generals, because the player could build multiple buildings anywhere in the map with bulldozers. It's alot more fun and strategic in my opinion. Share this post Link to post

That was the first thing I thought of - dead giveaway. I notice in the screenshots that the massive suits with no helmets are in the game too. Screens do look amazing. Green zones look great, and the yellow zones look exactly how they should. Overall, Im impressed. Yeah, im sure it does mean you cant build anywhere ala dozers, which Im certain most of the old dogs are happy about (I know I am), that being said, there are going to be movable bases, so Im sure thatll make you happy enough. BWare 0 Posted May 10, 2006 Yeah... frankly, that seems a little low. Just the preliminary shots there already look pretty demanding. Share this post Link to post
Luk3us 63 Posted May 10, 2006 Well just means have to go get two new video cards. And of course the PSU to power them.. Still seems very odd to me, a PSU just for the video cards.... Gees... Share this post Link to post
Cygnus X-1 12 Posted May 10, 2006 PSU? Just look at the water in those pics. My comp will probably die just from being in the same room as C&C3 Share this post Link to post
Saracen 16 Posted May 10, 2006 PSU = Power supply unit A typical GeForce 6600GT requires a minimum of 350 Watts of power to run efficiently. The top end cards these days require about 450 to reep the benefits of a cards capabilities. Unfortunately I'm still stuck with a crappy 180 Watt PSU, it sucks big time. and I have a 6600GT rotting away in my cupboard, and not the money to buy a new case and PSU since the case I currently have doesn't fit anything bigger than a 200 Wat PSU anyway! Luk3us 63 Posted May 11, 2006 Seems like someone didn't do enough research before buying their new fancy GPU.... Share this post Link to post
Cygnus X-1 12 Posted May 11, 2006 yes, their fancy GPU... Who needs a case? Paperclips and ducttape is the way to go man! And nothing like those little rotating fans for a cooling unit  Share this post Link to post
TheBlackOut 7 Posted May 11, 2006 Yeah... frankly, that seems a little low. Just the preliminary shots there already look pretty demanding. 3.0 GHz and all that is low? Also, its a RTS, not an FPS... Share this post Link to post
Cygnus X-1 12 Posted May 11, 2006 What does that have to do with it? The graphics are still gona be really high end, either way. Share this post Link to post
