Why to waste 2k when you can get one for about $900, the Geforce 7950 GTX 2. You can get two of those for the price of one ATI.

And Crossfire only supports 2 cards?

Put 4 Geforce 7950 GTX 2-s in SLi and..... you need a big power supply.

 

Or you could just get one Geforce and have $1100 to go waste on something else

My Dell has a Radeon Sapphire 9200. Not top of the line but still damn good. I can run HL2 without frame rate issues. That's win and win.

I don't really want to spent more than 1000 dollars, but I want it to be able to play some games.

 

I dunno, I am SO clueless in this department, I really need help. I wanna spent aroun 500 dollars for just a general purpose PC.

From these three I would recommend the Gf 6800, because it has 256bit memory and you probably wouldn't need the 7600-s high resolution output....

 

Almost all Gf cards that end with *800 offer quite same performance than the next class *600 card (for example: 6800 GS and 7600 GT) and are a lot cheaper...

 

I have a Nvidia Geforce 6800 GS and I'm very satisfied with it.

Yea, with gaming a good graphics card would be the 6800 or 6600, they are going for 60 - 80 dollars now-a-days, and arent too shabby.

 

Also, when making your own computer, dont forget a nice case. A nice one can be about 50 dollars, but you wouldnt want to have an ugly computer, right?

as yong as you have a case (black ones look better than white or grey) it doesnt matter with computers anyway because its not something people see often. whereas something like an xbox360 will get seen alot because of where it is so it does need to look good

Utility over looks, but for the love of all things pizza, dont get the late-90's cream colored cardboard cases (well plastic, but you could poke a pencil through them if you wanted to)
