TheBlackOut 7 Posted July 3, 2006 The title is misleading so haha on you. Okay, so C&C 3 is coming and everyone **** their pants and started celebrating and its getting all the attention... So am I the only freaking one who is still pissed at EA for not fixing TFD? EA promised fixes, and we got two lame patches... Woodee ****ing doo. After those two lame patches C&C 3 got announced and it was like their little scapegoat. Sure, the community fixed most of TFD problems... But you know what, it ain't the community's freaking responcibility too. Its the company's, and that company is EA. They don't show care about their products, especially C&C for some reason, one of the most popular RTS's. When was the last patch for C&C Generals/Zero Hour? The mismatch thing has been looming us for AGES in the Generals community and after all those patches, it ain't fixed. And no patches for TFD recently and none announced. I am still pissed at EA. You know, I look at this way, and yall should too, if they do this with ALL of the C&C games now, why wouldn't they do it to C&C 3? Sure, I'll bet they'll patch it for 6 months... It'll slow down... After a year, maybe one more lame patch and that'll be the end. More bugs and glitches will be discovered but we won't see a patch to fix it. Just something I'd like to share, I want my ****ing patch for TFD and Generals. Hell, they could patch the older games too to you know, fix some stuff. Renegade could use a patch. It wouldn't have to be major, just fix some of the things Renegade has. I'd bet it get more players into the game, and isn't that what EA wants? For people to play the games? Nah, they just want them to buy it. But hey, a new patch could bring new players too. I think its just me probably... But lets see. Share this post Link to post
Luk3us 63 Posted July 3, 2006 Meh, as long as it works semi well its all fine. Share this post Link to post
Alphabear 11 Posted July 3, 2006 i dont know why there are so many complaints about the lack of c&c patches. compared to the support games from other companies like lucasarts (EAW excluded) id say they were lucky we got good patches Share this post Link to post
Sonic 296 Posted July 3, 2006 You do know that they (EA) can't just slap together a patch for a game and release it right? When a patch made it needs to be tested a lot to make sure it doesn't "break" the game. Share this post Link to post

BWare 0 Posted July 3, 2006 Right. Their resources are going into a new profit-making product, not into support for a dying, last generation product. (They like money, remember). Some people are so naive... Share this post Link to post
Cygnus X-1 12 Posted July 4, 2006 Then hire 3 more F***ing people to do the patch and testing. There are plenty of peeps oout there willing to do it. Hell, people will vulunteer for this stuff, then EA can "officially" anounce it and then when everyone gets online to play they all autoupdate and we all have the same patch. Most patches arent hard to do, and with the first TFD patch (holy lord potato head were they smokin' wiid or what?) all they needed was a simple patchget file to update the RA movies, and instead they loaded all 800 friggin MBs of it into the folders and essentialyl filespaming peoples TFD dirrectories and making a mess out of them. Some support would be welcome. Lucasarts could learn a thing or two as well. Share this post Link to post

TheBlackOut 7 Posted July 4, 2006 I think you're the only one that's pissed at EA... Finally a short answer. But tis is wrong I've found out. EA just bought a big company again so a lot of people are pissed again. Some MMO crap company, not one I care about. Share this post Link to post
Tree 0 Posted July 4, 2006 Only CNC person that is pissed at EA. I think everyone else has pretty much moved on. Share this post Link to post
Cygnus X-1 12 Posted July 4, 2006 Yes, we've all accepted that. But I can still be pissed at large companies (EA, Lucasarts) for failing to support any of their titles after the 1st patch. Share this post Link to post
Sonic 296 Posted July 4, 2006 Why dump on LucasArts, they have provided great support for Empire at War. They were late on getting the map editor out to everyone though. As for EA and the lack of support of TFD, what else is new? Most people have moved on and the focus is on C&C3. You can't blame EA for not wanting to devote every working hour to legacy products. And all this crap about the problems with TFD makes me glad I never purchase it, I do have a full legal copy strictly for my C&C collection purposes (thanks EA ). But I never used the game DVD. I see no point when all the old C&C games run perfectly well for me. For example, a few weeks ago I installed Red Alert, set the compatibility to Windows 95, patched it with the 3.03 update, installed the old IPX network stuff and played a few LAN games with my brother. Why doesn't this work for others regardless of the TFD version or original version is beyond me. Share this post Link to post
Cygnus X-1 12 Posted July 5, 2006 All of my orginals work, RA, RA-AM, TS, FS, RA2, YR, GEN, ZH, but I dont have Renegade, RA-CS, TD, or TD-CO Plus when I get TFD I expected it to work fine, so I uninstalled everything and reloaded via TFD to save a bit of space. As of right now, Generals, ZH, and REN are all uninstalled (again, saving space) Plus its easier to just have one disk instead of 12 EAW support is great, but other games have just died once they hit the shelves (in terms of supportness) Share this post Link to post

Its rare to found the older C&Cs now. =/ Share this post Link to post
Cygnus X-1 12 Posted July 5, 2006 And some people have trouble getting them to work. In addition, Windows XP Pro SP2 has an issue with its DOS emulator (well, it doesnt work very well) so anything on DOS wont work. Share this post Link to post
Alphabear 11 Posted July 5, 2006 Yeah EAW has good support because petro made it. take swbf1 for example, it was looking to be a great game, it origonaly had features similar to what BF2 now has with commanders etc. Lucasarts made pandemic cut features out so they could release it sooner to the point where they actually released the beta version with no netcode. They came out with a couple of lousy patches when lucasarts got them to make a sequal to be released 1 year aftet swbf1 was because it was their highest selling game ever. And because they had to rush this out because of lucasarts it is essentually the same game with the graphics that swbf1 was planned to have. Share this post Link to post
Cygnus X-1 12 Posted July 5, 2006 You talking about SW Battlefront and II brings up a question... games get patched for the computer, but what about the games on the consols? How do they patch a game on the PS2? Share this post Link to post
