TheBlackOut 7 Posted December 9, 2006 As I watch and watch the trailers over again.... Notice its bright out? Like Texas bright! I thought the end of the world was suppose to dark and gloomy, or is that just me? I remember seeing a screenshot that looked like it was dark but nothing in the trailers. Saracen 16 Posted December 10, 2006 The dark and gloomy will be coming soon, you'll just have to wait a little longer. These conditions you describe are predominantly within the Red Zones, and what better place for the Alien Side to start their invasion than within the habitat they are most suited to. Now lets consider the lack of explanatory detail gone into weather control, Ion Storms, Day/Night Cycles, and even the music which helps give the game that dark and gloomy atmosphere, and then you'll begin to realise the surface has only just been scraped thus far. I believe that once we have the Scrin well and truly into the picture, we'll start to see a larger picture emerge outside the box. And after the new year, more and more detail should begin to start flooding in about all the catergories above. You'll get your dark and gloomy, this is just the calm before the storm. Share this post Link to post

comander starlin 6 Posted December 11, 2006 yes because that is part of the C&C and Si-Fi Genre Share this post Link to post
Saracen 16 Posted December 12, 2006 do you think they should have Dark Gloomy and Creepy music? I think the music should be adaptive to the Zone you are in within the current condition of your mission. So yes, dark and gloomy in Red Zones, with deeply dark and sinister heavy metal going on during battles. Something like that would work well. I think if there's a wide enough spectrum of music, everything could fit into place. Share this post Link to post
comander starlin 6 Posted December 12, 2006 well as long as the games music is as good as Earth 2160, or better i will be happy. Share this post Link to post
Woofna 0 Posted December 12, 2006 I like that idea. Peaceful, orchestral protoss-like music themes for blue zones, uneasy, shifty music for Yellow zones, and gloomy, doomy music for red zones. The music should be variant on the zone you're in, the style of mission, your current situation, the side you're playing for, etc. I think all 3 sides should have their own music set. And the situation music should be like this Fighting offensively, winning: Heavy metal upbeat Fightly offensively, losing: Heavy metal, desperate feel Fighting defensively, winning: Upbeat techno Fighting defensively, losing: Dark techno Building up forces, not much happening: Ambience Incoming superweapon: Doomy music Outgoing superweapon: Music builds up while it approaches, heavy metal explosion when it blows Using a commando to infiltrate: Quiet, sneaky sounding music Approaching the enemy base with overwhelming force: Marching, anthem-y music ( think Stomp ) Overwhelming force is approaching YOU: Doomy, "all hands on deck" music. It should add to the feel of the game. Like when you hear the music that plays and it signifies a superweapon incoming, your heart should go into your throat and you should get a feeling of dread. And when you're pushing 60 Mammoth 27s towards the Nod base, the metal anthem should make your heart race and your blood flow. Seriously. I want the music to help create certain parts of the game give you goosebumps. Edit: Though less intricate than this theoretical music system, Generals did have a system. But that lead to a lot of points in the game with NO music for turtlers like me. Ambience would be nice, but you should still randomly have upbeat music even if you're just turtling and nothing's happening. Edit 2: Goosebumps. When I was playing Yuri's revenge once, my CD screwed up and stopped playing music. So it was quiet, just the sounds of units. But by a godly coincidence, when I sent a MASSIVE force of Apocalypse tanks towards a Yuri base and they began walking through the initates without even slowing down before they hit the base walls, halfway through walking through the infantry and just about to hit the base walls, Drok starting playing, and since Drok is heavy and takes off so quickly, that perfect timing and perfect music gave me goosebumps. It was like an RTS orgasm. Seriously, the first note of Drok happened exactly in tune with the first explosion. I want C&C 3 to do that regularly. Share this post Link to post

I'm just full of ideas today. I should go write a crap theory book. It must be the new Starbucks coffee I just bought. That's why there are so many haiku-writing pseudo-intellectuals in Starbucks. It's not the image, but the coffee itself. They put a mind drug in it. SEE?! ^^^^ I just made another crap theory on the moment! What is wrong with me? Share this post Link to post

Does this really look and feel like a post-Tiberian Sun setting? The absence of a dark and gloomy atmosphere has been something that's been worrying me over the months, and especially now after seeing the above screenshots. Seriously, should such areas even exist? On an unrelated note, are those octagonal borders underneath the selected units in the first screen for real? :? Share this post Link to post

The plot was heavily eddited during the creation of C&C 3 to create a more atmospherically diverse game, but I assume it will stay mostly gloomy. Undeniably, we are seeing mostly the Blue Zone atmosphere, which will be bright and sunny. There WERE bright sunny parts of TibSun, though they were rare. The atmospheric conditions in yellow zones and red zones include more impressive grahpics, like Ion Storms, clouds, advanced tiberium growth, slude, algea, etc. and as such probably take longer to develop. Keep in mind we're only seeing the tip of the Tiberium ice berg here. Have hope. Things take time. Share this post Link to post
