Saracen 16 Posted January 12, 2007 While RTS games are fun. To improve the genre, mixing them with FPS, or any other genre doesn't really work too well. And I don't believe it to be the answer. I think the only genre RTS works with is the RPG. It means alot of micromanagement and such. But even this falls by the wayside if it's not done properly. That's why many of the bigger developers don't touch concepts like this, because the risk far outweighs the chance to get it right. It'll take a developer with the correct planning and execution to pull off the concept correctly to the point where it will hold critical acclaim and cult following. But as it stands, there hasn't been one that's held any substantial success yet. Share this post Link to post
Cygnus X-1 12 Posted January 14, 2007 Enter C&C  I see your point, but its still fun to speculate. I mean, come on, who wouldnt want to be a Nod commander, then revert to FPS and control the Cyborg commando leading a base assault? Share this post Link to post
Guest Maul Posted January 15, 2007 ive been playing ra2 recently and i hope they do make ra3 cuz ra2 is the best Share this post Link to post
Cygnus X-1 12 Posted January 15, 2007 I'll have to disagree about RA2 being the best. Oh its fun to play, and comical, but it kinda draws the seriousness away from RA1. Share this post Link to post
Saracen 16 Posted January 16, 2007 But nevertheless, in theory as it stands, it's linked to the Tiberium universe. If Westwood's plans stand firm and EA follow the plans, RA2 is the sequel to C&C 3! Confused? Well just think along the same story lines as Tiberian Dawn being the sequel to Red Alert and you'll understand why. Share this post Link to post
Doctor Destiny 41 Posted January 16, 2007 Doesn't make any sense King. RA2 would feature Tiberium rather than ore if it comes after C&C3... besides, you're neglecting the dates of the events. RA2 and YR take place during the 1970s and 1980s, then TD comes into play around 1996, TS in the 2030s and then C&C3 after that. Never forget to factor in the timeline... it's essential. Guest Rabbit Posted January 16, 2007 Ahh, but you must understand Fenring, think about it. There is indeed time travel, so, RA2 could still fit in after C&C three. It's all based on point of view. Let me give you an example. http://cncnz.com/zeehypnotist/100_5511.jpg Looking at this, you're going back and forth through time, but even though you're in the past, it's still in order AFTER the present. So, theoretically, RA2 could fit AFTER C&C3 even if it is before C&C 3 according to time itself. Share this post Link to post

I know that, but Westwood made preliminary plans for the C&C 3 storyline which allows a character in the game to use Alien technology to go back in time. This one person changes events which starts the 2nd Red Alert war. These events then set in motion the start of the first Tiberium War. Since whoever went back in time, failed to achieve their goal. In fact they only accelerated the process. EA may, or may not follow this storyline. But if you wanna know where the Tiberian Storyline connects to the Red Alert storyline and how Westwood would have done it if they still ran the show, then have a read from ex-Westwood employee Adam Isgreen. Share this post Link to post
Cygnus X-1 12 Posted January 16, 2007 that is just nuts over there, which is why I signed up so I could read the whole blasted thing 8) one thing they seemed to have missed over there is that "The Land of Nod" actually means, in the original Hebrew, something akin to "The land of the ceaseless wander" or wandering nomad. AfronovA 0 Posted October 30, 2007 I would like to see a RA3, but how can the story be continued from RA2? unless they say that one of yuri's clones got loose and then there will be a Red Alert 3: Yuri's 2nd Revenge/ Wrath Share this post Link to post
JahSpoR 0 Posted October 30, 2007 say that one of yuri's clones got loose and then there will be a Red Alert 3 Arent all the clones perished when yuri is killed? Just thought RA2 was way too cartoony, and yuris revenge doesn't make it better by adding green gorilla soldiers and all this psychic sh*t. If RA3 should be next, the must go for a more serios story line that still connects with the old ones. And no friggin dolphins and killer squids and sh*t! Share this post Link to post
