Mods worth it?

I personally think that their is no reason what so ever for the need or use of mods, although with the few mods i tried in the beginning of tiberian sun pretty much just showed me what they were. I'm not for them at all for the lack of unfair ops and just how much they change the game to their advangtage so that they can win. I don't believe in them or see the point in them. Some people say they make mods because their's no challenge on the regular maps. Now i no that's a bunch of bullsh#% for half the people that say are so bad they have to play mods. There's more than enough reg maps on ts, ra2 and what not to keep them preoccupied, hell i havn't counted but i think it's about 25 or so on each game, Post what ya think. Blakmaglc

What!? Mods are brillaint - they basically change the entire game especilly te TC's. Ren Alert is incredible and Reborn is v cool. This is the Renegade forums so I don't know why you're talking about RA2 and TS.

 

Mods don't just add new maps you know, they add new units, change existing units and all sorts - you should try some new mods because they're really good now.

Mods also extend the life of a game.

It really depends on the mods you get. I reckon you probably downloaded a real ****ty mod and it put you off them forever.

 

Kinda like me and ham.... Did I mention it tastes absolutely revolting?

 

Good quality mods are hell awesome. Though they usually are big but then thats how it is. Can't have quality with out quantity. .... that made no sense.

Well the main mods that have a puiblic version out at the moment are www.renalert.com and www.reborn.de - there are others that look good, but aren't out yet.

Real proper mods, like the RenAlert team's creation = good.

Mods that are ppl like me mucking about with Red Alert's rules.ini file = bad.

 

Look at what mods have given to Renegade for example. You don'tneed to go the full hog and get RenAlert, but if I'm right, unofficial mods gave us flying maps, which were meant to be included in the original game but weren't. I don't know about you guys, but I'm truly wetting myself waiting for the naval unit RenAlert patch.

Aircraft are available in Renegade, they were added in one of the patches.
