Redmond Boyle 0 Posted May 31, 2007 Okay, I know you might start fighting about global warming again, but I think it's really happening: It really hot here in Finland, it's raining and really hot and the bugs (specially bees) are much bigger than last summer. The autumn lasted 4 moths last year, there wasn't snow on christmas but the roads were all frozen /that's just my experience/ ...any comments? is it really happening? What will the world look like in the future? Anything? :?: Share this post Link to post
vyper 0 Posted May 31, 2007 Alot of people here in Pakistan have also felt that the weather has changed. The winter rains that usually happen in dec/jan happend about 1-2 months later........plus there was a long draught in southwestern pakistan and afghanistan recently........ TheBlackOut 7 Posted May 31, 2007 I could say the opposite. It's been usually cool. It's usually 95-105 F, 35-40.5 C by now and it's been 75-85 F, 23.8- 29.5 C We've been in a drought and now are having a real rainy season. Could be global warming, but if these are the signs already, it's too late. Share this post Link to post
F15pilotX 4 Posted May 31, 2007 *sigh* I really do not want to have to argue again, but please, people, don't just spoonfeed on what your teachers/profs say, actually do some research. and i don't mean "research" by the sierra club. btw, my weather's the same way as TSBO's edit - misspelled mean Share this post Link to post
Doctor Destiny 41 Posted June 1, 2007 It was in the 30s in April. Global warming is bull****. >_> Share this post Link to post
Luk3us 63 Posted June 1, 2007 Global Warming, is just an excuse for the government to make more money, through their carbon credits schemes... Pff.... Share this post Link to post
Alphabear 11 Posted June 1, 2007 ]I really do not want to have to argue again, but please, people, don't just spoonfeed on what your teachers/profs say, actually do some research. I agree with this statement but i would just like to add that when it comes to science, google and wiki should not count as research. Share this post Link to post
Doctor Destiny 41 Posted June 1, 2007 Wiki and Google are perfectly acceptable forms of research so long as you don't believe the dude with a Tripod site with bogus information. Find a .edu and you're good. Share this post Link to post
F15pilotX 4 Posted June 1, 2007 alphabear, you have good intentions, but that defnintely came across the wrong way Honestly, I'm constantly amazed at how many of the people I meet online are smarter than anyone I know in real life  Share this post Link to post
TheBlackOut 7 Posted June 1, 2007 The internet is full of Asians that are wtf smart. Share this post Link to post
Wildshield 0 Posted June 1, 2007 It's a good thing that you have Bees where you are. Here in the U.S. we seem to be killing them off with our cellphones. Any where there's a tower, the signs of bees in the area is slim. Only a few years ago were were talking about killer bees combing across the country. Now I really never see them. I heard many, many different theories. It's happening in Europe too. If we have to, just kill of cell phones. Only 911 accepted. I mean bee's creating food for our population is more important than "omg wats up grlfriend?" Share this post Link to post
Redmond Boyle 0 Posted June 1, 2007 Here in the U.S. we seem to be killing them off with our cellphones. WTF?? In Finland everyone has a cellphone (because of Nokia) and the bees just breed and increase in numbers. And to all the people who think that Global Warming is not really coming: How do you explain that it's warmer in here every year after year? personally I don't care so much about the whole global warming, no-one can make me be more ecological by using the excuse of global warming...I just need to get used to this heat 8) Share this post Link to post
vyper 0 Posted June 1, 2007 you know, in the good old days of the 1960s , people never suspected that industries pumping sulfur dioxide into the atmosphere would have any negative effects...........until it started raining acid. Maybe global warming is a myth, but the fact of the matter remains that everything that we do has an impact on our environment. So its unreasonable to assume that the unprecedented levels of industrial waste gases being pumped into the atmosphere have no abnormal effects. Share this post Link to post
TheBlackOut 7 Posted June 1, 2007 And to all the people who think that Global Warming is not really coming: How do you explain that it's warmer in here every year after year? Explain to me how it keeps getting COOLER here? We're one of the HOTTEST states in the U.S. usually, right next to Arizona, New Mexico, those kind of places. So yet Phenoix, Arizona is still in it's usual 112 F we're stuck in our 70-80's F? The state of New York has gotten higher than us! Luckily we're starting to warm up now. you know, in the good old days of the 1960s , people never suspected that industries pumping sulfur dioxide into the atmosphere would have any negative effects...........until it started raining acid. I ain't gonna deny it, but I still think it's sketchy. I still think we should be taking precautions, but you know why I think that? I just hate air pollution. That's the reason for me. I live near Dallas, very big city, we went to Colorado near the forests and holy **** I could breathe a lot better. That and protecting animal life. Share this post Link to post
Alphabear 11 Posted June 2, 2007 ]alphabear, you have good intentions, but that defnintely came across the wrong way Sorry if it came across the wrong way. I just get fed up with people reading one article on some site that may be a very good argumentative essay, but has no substancial scientific credability behind it and all of a sudden think they understand the issue. Its not just this issue in particular that i was making that statement about. Share this post Link to post

Luk3us 63 Posted June 2, 2007 The whole global warming thing is iffy... That being said, it wouldn't hurt (Actually it will but still ) if the world starting acting more friendly towards the environment... Share this post Link to post
mormreed 0 Posted June 2, 2007 yeah there are a lot of ways the world could really improve how they are treating the environment, but I honestly think Al Gore made up global warming, personal opinion, not trying to say any of you are wrong or anything just thats what I think personally Share this post Link to post
Wildshield 0 Posted June 3, 2007 Al Gore made up global warming perhaps, but the market has spoken. They went and judge on the film, now its a freaking phenomenon. Though I haven't watched it. Yeah, some article I read a few months ago was going on and on about the bees. Saying the towers are messing up their navigation on roaming about. It claimed that they can't find their way back to the hive or have no ambition to find pollen. Then again they might had a huge party last year and are still hung over. Share this post Link to post

Climate shifts happen, as F15 has proved again, and again, and again, and all that hubba jubba he has backed it up. The only one that has even credible evidence against his claims is Alphabear. For all we know, it could be an "European" la and el nino thing. Share this post Link to post
Alphabear 11 Posted June 3, 2007 Al Gore's movie did in some way have some truth behind it, however from a scientific point of view much of what he said is crap. Increases in temperatre cause CO2 levels to spike, which if he had used more detailed graphs in his presentations would show that. There still is evidence that global warming is actually occuring. But since when does anyone in power listen to warnings from the scientific community. One thing i find interesting in the whole global warming debate is that its remarkably similar to the "theres a bear in the woods" political campaign. However people are more interested in putting money into proving its wrong than doing anything about it. Anything done towards improving the state of the world is not just going to prevent global warming, its going to have a massive impact on our future sustainability as well. cnc_sage 0 Posted June 17, 2007 Climate change or not, we have to take care of our planet. Btw, is this true? Share this post Link to post
Doctor Destiny 41 Posted June 17, 2007 Nuclear power is one of the cleanest power sources available. Coal and oil power are the sources that need to be phased out. It would easy to work with wind, hydro and nuclear power alone. Share this post Link to post
cnc_sage 0 Posted June 18, 2007 I agree, but nuclear power isn't safe, think of what could happen if a meltdown occurs. Though they have the highest power output, so if we want to keep them, we should thoroughly maintain them... At least until fusion power is introduced. Btw, you forgot solar power.
