I'm joining the Marines. I'm going to be out on the move in approximately a year and two months, thus, I have until then to be dedicated to this website.

What I wanted to know though, is what people's opinions are on joining the armed forces. It's a decision I have made, but, I'm always open to opinion, and I'm curious to know what you guys think about it.

For those of you who don't know (due to being in other countries), the Marines are basically America's higher standard of soldiers.

You Crazy SoaB :haha:

Nice career move though, hope you go far. Perhaps even be a C&C commando one day :P

What influenced this decision then?

Oh and you better finish off your Legos Saga before you go anywhere, you hear!

well at least you have a long time before you get shipped out and if you don't finish your legos saga before you leave I think I'll cry myself to sleep every night until you come back ;) (a small exaggeration) and like Saracen I'm also curious as to why you joined up withe the marines (marines was the way to go though the best part of America's forces no offense to any other branches but the marines just take it all)

We're all gonna get drafted sometime soon in WWIII so I don't see the point in it now.

Seriously... that's what I think... but the marines always seem to do good things for people, hope it works out and don't give up. My ass of a cousin did and granted he was a low-life to begin with I lost even more respect for him because of that.

Wow, me neither.

I understand that the armed forces will pay for tuition costs for uni/college, and that if you serve? Or something to that effect? They offer something similar here. Something to look into.

My half-brothers friend went to Special Forces to be a Sniper. He went to the Fallujah Triangle (or however you spell it) to snipe. I haven't heard of him much but he was awesome, funny guy. But I heard it's horrible to be a sniper there, because the sand and they got eyes on you as well.

I'd wanna be in a tank or in the air myself.

Well hope it gives you some stuff you want out of it Zee. :)

If I were to join the armed forces I'd try for A-10 pilot. Support the ground pounders.

I really don't see why everyone hates the A-10.. it is really bad-ass. Not to mention very survivable. (Titanium bathtub for a co-ckpit [GG WORD FILTER], strong sturdy airframe. These things have been shot to hell and have safely delivered their pilots back home.)

Also I <3 Gau-8.

But really I don't think the military is the place for me. It's probably the last thing I'd do.

The Warthog Tank Buster is a great piece of American engineering capable of many different roles. No one should deny that. But I don't think people hate it for what it is, more or less what it represents.

The A-10 has probably been involved in more friendly fire scenarios than any other aircraft. The men who have piloted these things have bombed Americans, British, French, Canadian and Germans. Plus everything between aliied troops, tanks APCs and the odd occassional aircraft as well.

That titanium bathtub must make them feel invincible.
