Red Alert: A Path Beyond Beta Now Available

Recommended Posts

Its been a long time coming, months and months of development and testing has finally led to the release of the Red Alert: A Path Beyond Beta. There are currently 3 mirrors to download from and from what I've been told they are getting hammered. More mirrors should be popping over night and then into the weekend. If your new to Red Alert: A Path Beyond you should check out the Red Alert: A Path Beyond Field Manual so you know what each character does etc.....

So visit the Red Alert: A Path Beyond site and grab the beta now. The download is 558.9 MB and your advised to download the beta only from the mirrors list posted on the Red Alert: A Path Beyond site.

Thanks for the news :D

There are now over 10 mirrors up, and more will be up in the next few days (mirros such as gamespot, gamershell, fileradar, moddb etc) so there should be enough fast-ish mirrors around.

I've only played in a couple of games last night so I won't go overboard with a long post here, so to keep it short I thought it was damn good. I found sniping most difficult though, probably just need more practice.

Once I've played a few more games and taken more screen shots I'll be doing a review and putting a gallery up sometime during the coming week.

Here are 2 screen shots.

just one thing to say: THE BETA IS HERE THE BETA IS HERE!!! I've been waiting all summer for this and now it is finally here /me goes off to play the hell out of beta on incredibly laggy servers

so far it is amazing and Sonic u probably couldn't snipe cause of the lag, even in a small game the snipers scope lags, a lot and getting lag kills is just cheap not to mention everyone hates you for it, also R.I.P. ChopBot we will miss you all your witty banter and praise of ChopBam we will miss !noobing people because they bought a demo while the base is under attack and we will miss not !recing all the engineers who really deserved it but most of all we will mis sounds R.I.P. ChopBot

Yes, in Red Alert you could see a black fog moving around, but you didn't know what was under it. This does the same thing, but because you are not looking from the top, we made it a dome. If a soviet ventures inside the dome all they see if a swirling grey mist, until an allied unit fires at them (or is fired at) and then they appear.

Read the manual and you may learn some handy tips.

I was suprised to see that the generator itself was cloaked. I always assumed that once in the field the mobile generator itself would be visible...

The cloak certainly changes up the game-play...

Yes, we had to make things inside the field invisible, because it was the only way to remove target boxes. If we didn't you would just be able to target units inside the field from outside.

I think that's more realistic because even if you have a unit in part of the shroud, it doesn't reveal the entire thing.

That's a shame, you should get some sort of benefit by venturing into the cloud, rather than standing off at a safe distance and pounding into the cloud.

Still, engine limitations and all still very workable.
