lol, just had to do that. But yes, I agree with you. Too much hassle building your own computer (especially with compatibility and stuff). Besides, companies know better which parts perform better together. And I haven't had a single problem with my Dell, not a single blue screen (and I have 20+ games installed ffs).

Have on myself,. haven't had a SINGLE bluescreen ever. It's really the best pc I ever had.

BSODs are usually caused by overheating or viruses. Just don't use IE and download weird crap and get a good case for 50 bucks and you're good.

 

Hey man, get an Alienware, couz now you can get x4 crossfire!

It's funny because you can do that yourself (the x4 crossfire, which btw IS NOT WORTH IT) and for 2 grand less!

No, not really. Tech support? No, why? Because here's what you'll face if you have problems for the most part:

BOSD - Just buy a good case to prevent overheating. Do not use IE, use FF or Opera. You can use NoScript for further FF protection. Also, use an antivirus if you choose. I have a custom built PC and I have only had one BSOD and that was because I was cleaning my PC once and forgot to plug back in my fans.

Drivers - Not hard, just go to mobo manufacturer's site and grab them. for video card, go to video card manufacturer's site. etc etc

Anything else - Just go here or to a tech forum and ask. Dell's/Gateway's will have problems that the Indian guy can't help you with since all he is familiar with is the Control Panel fixes.

Really? So you use all that crap that they give you? The Jukebox, the crappy paint like program, the crappy photo program? Even if so, RED could buy all that and get profession software (like Adobe's) and still save probably 500 dollars in general.

 

And if you're recommending Dell, don't act as if you know everything. you just know about Dell. I know about Gateways, Dell's, HPs, and customs. I or my immediate family has had them all...

 

And on that note, if you were going to get a pre-built PC, go HP. they offered the best bang for your buck.

Your own will always be ten times better than any branded PC. Mine is an excellent machine and it's entirely custom. ANd I saved a ****load of money over buying a pre-built. Once you build one, you'll never go back.

All parts you would get online come with warranties and that sorta thing anyway. Of course it will vary from product to product.

So use Newegg. They have a 30 day return policy. If a part stops working, ship it back and get a new one.

Don't haul it around to a lot of LAN parties then. Granted I don't move mine much, but when I do, I carry it with both arms, walk slow and stay aware of my surroundings.

And seriously, why would you need that? If you're THAT accident prone, why would you even get something this expensive? A computer is _not_ something you take out a loan for or make monthly payments on. It's an extra, not a necessity.

That and most parts have a 3 year warranty anyways. My BFG video card has a life time warranty, my Mushkin RAM has a LIFETIME warranty, and the rest of the parts have warranties too. But if it works for 30 days, usually that means your PC ain't gonna have problems. If it does, usually it's the PSU, but that's why I tend to spring for a good quality PSU.

 

And with the money you saved, if you didn't get a warranty, you can still buy that new part and still have saved money.

 

And yes, I like Hewlett-Packard.

You were looking at a 4K machine... Dude, you can cut it back to 1200 dollars and still have a kick ass machine. Hell, 8oo~ if you're fine with your current monitor...

yea man the monitor is a problem. i need to purchase one of my own. a decent one i could even hook up to my Xbox..

 

dude thats the whole reason im in a rush...im completely behind in PC gaming, and i have a strong desire to catch up...besides, RA3!? tiberium!? i havent even played CNC3, ive only tasted it through the 360 demo. and for those who have a good memory ive been planning to get a new PC for a long time now...

You could easily get a monitor that you could use your Xbox on too. I could also help you with compatibility as well as Fenring. Also, other tech dedicated forums such as Anandtech's Forum could help you with budget, compatibility, and performance.

Yes you could go in the forum and say that. BUT why would your monitor not work? Just get some adapters and connect it. CRTs make for some of the best gaming monitors.

well LCDs do have better refresh rate and whatnot...but like i said my current monitor isnt exactly a considerable option..for now at least, ill have to see if my family decides to get a new PC

You can get a good build for around a thousand and be good for a while. You'll spend at most $1250, and have something really good. There is absolutely no reason to spend four thousand on a desktop PC, EVER!
