  1. Well, no, not exactly. Cause it was never released nor, actually used. Call it an official draft. Definitely an interesting read. However, it's part of a larger Bible that was written at Westwood at the time, which contained more information, including even some RA bits. Mostly based on what I wrote for the PCNC Canon. But, according to a few Westwood guys, there were some creative conflicts on that matter.
  2. Yeah, that's not really anything official, the bible. It's an iteration of something written internally at Westwood, but never reviewed and canonized.
  3. Well, not sure the Tiberium mutations made him wise, but yeah
  4. Well, first of all, don't forget the UFO from Renegade. That might just be what brought the Tacitus to Earth in the first place, and part of the design specs for Kane's Scrin ship. Kane wouldn't necessarily kill off all his scientists. Also, he's not infallible. There's a difference between helping to translate the thing and knowing all it's secrets.
  5. The Agent is, presumably, the player....
  6. Tratos is not Mobius. And I still don't see the problem. Yes, Tratos was with Kane during WWI. He helped translate the Tacitus. And, according to this thing, also name it. So, why not? Where's the conflict?
  7. Stygs, some of us like to write on paper even with word processors and even voice typing software. Penmanship is an art. I got this cool parchment like notebook (The Order: 1886 Press Kit Edition) with an ink pen, and it's really fun to slowly write things in it. To each his own, and all that. What do you mean by "But its kinda weird if Tratos came up with the name Tacitus - didnt Nod have it long before the events of TS?"?
  8. DICE, just like VG, is wholly owned by EA. There's a team at DICE responsible for the tech. They did most of the big internals work on the engine - it was a dedicated effort. Not closed sourced.

    What's Happening with CNCNZ.com?

LOL, the one you posted - Mobile Infantry to Mobile Base....

    What's Happening with CNCNZ.com?

We need to first check for sure how gamespy's shutdown affects C&C and all the various games. Because if I recall correctly, only C&C3 actually resided on the GameSpy backend, while RA3 and onwards only used the GameSpy tools, while resting the servers on their own backend. Checking.... And no, not everything looked like crap.

    What's Happening with CNCNZ.com?

That's too bad, cause despit what turned out due to external meddling, and limitations, some things were done with the outmost respect to the franchise. And as far as I remember, the Unit Descriptions that appeared after the game's release on the official Site were universally liked and enjoyed. It's in that same venue that the article CNCNZ posted was written. Actually, prior to all those unit descriptions.

    What's Happening with CNCNZ.com?

What's funny, though, is a post about the site's well being gets so many responses in a heartbeat, but a revelation from the development process of C&C4 gets one comment....

    EA_CIRE Says Goodbye

Reading comprehension much? 1. It was not the team's writing, but PR spin from above. 2. What do you mean by "remnants from Apoc's Recycle Bin"? 3. It's a joke. And Eric has done plenty. The whole Feedback process from the community to the team, the pressure from the community the dev team felt, bringing in community testers early and even inviting the likes of AGM into the team to further push in the direction the community wanted to - all Eric's doing. Not to mention the amount of work he did for CommandCom and other C&C presences at conventions...

    Victory Games Drop BioWare Label

Actually, as far as I know, before them both leaving the gaming industry, Ray Muzyka was hands on with the team at VG.
  15. Not necessarily. That's the whole point of building up a Service. You build up a platform capable of sustaining anything - then it's... well like adding Mods to an existing engine, except it's built from the ground up to support this. No contradictions here. They said that when it launches (and it launches with a Beta first), it will only have two factions. They later added that another would be added later. NOT on launch. This contradicts nothing they said before. It actually goes with the whole Service point they are [poorly] trying to make. They always said that, as a Service, it will receive more content as time goes by. And since they didn't want to get into details in the announcement interviews, they let slip only recently that a third faction will be released sometime during beta. Same goes for the campaign. You read the interview wrong. The site itself wrote it wrong. The SERVICE wil have Tib and RA. Well, that's the plan. Gibeau only mused about the inter-universe unit discussions as something possible. The two things are mutually exclusive.

    Sean Decker EA Russia Interview

I've explained why it's irrelevant. In the next sentence. My own question was directed at that one issue. Again, to remark on the usage of unfounded, baseless speculation to sustain an indication. And no, I don't see the double meaning there. Please enlighten me.

    Sean Decker EA Russia Interview

My precious EA? Sorry, but that question of yours is completely irrelevant. I was remarking on your use of P2W as a done fact in your attempt to prove that the game already looks bad or indicate as much. You are using completely fabricated speculation to indicate something?????? How does that work, exactly? Further more, same goes for the SP remark. But, I will still answer your irrelevant question - I'm basing this on the fact that they are talking about e-sports. Something that can NOT have P2W! Might be a non competitive mode with P2W. I'm personally fine with that. But as long as they put esports as a goal, I don't think there's much to worry about. I'm also basing this on the fact that this is not an afterthought move on EA's part. They talked about Games as Service a E3 this year. Heavily. And if anything, then this is the first time that C&C is not just a side product, but part of the company wide strategy, which includes all their biggest franchises. Which is the exact opposite of what they did when they forced C&C4 on Arena. No, it's not the same ****. A service is not just a game. If you'd like to actually understand and not go on a tangent, I refer you to EA's E3 2012 press conference . THey talked about what that means a lot.

Plokite... I noticed that you, again, managed to slip in the phrasing of P2W. Why? Based on what saying or evidence or logic? The game is NOT called C&C. The Service is called C&C. The Service will then contain various installments.

    Sean Decker EA Russia Interview

Oh no, Sonic, tell me you didn't just post that AWFUL translation! Here, mostly the same, with better English and without any weird non existent additions in the first question (again, better English): 1. Tell us about the new game C&C. Why is it called just Command & Conquer? A: We plan to turn it into a real gaming service that will last for a long while. We want players to get familiarized with the game world and ultimately expand to all the C&C universes. The game [Meaning the Service] doesn't focus on any specific plot line, say only Generals or RA. But will, ultimately, contain all of them. We've decided to start with Generals and in the future expand to the other plots. 2. Is it true that the next C&C is Free to Play? What does it mean to Players? A: Simply put, anyone can play C&C. You won't have to buy the game in a physical or digital store. Anyone who'd want, will be able to try out this game. We want a whole new generation of gamers to dive into the universe of C&C. And Free 2 Play is a great way to accomplish that. 3. Will there be a Microtransaction Store within the game? A: That's right, we plan to make such a store. However the game itself will be free 2 play, so anyone will be able to play it. 4. And what would that store have to offer? A: At this point in time, I can't say exactly what the store will sell, since we are currently studying various possibilities and options. We are constantly checking for new ideas and options, and if our clients, the player, will want specific options or things to buy, we'll always be open to consider and add such things. 5. When is the launch planned for? A: I can't say exactly when the launch will be, however as most online services, the launch will be in several stages, so as to meet a certain must have goal of quality. We plan to start with a closed Beta, which anyone who fills out the form on the site might participate in. 6. When will the closed beta start? A: Again, I can't say exactly, but if you register today, you'll be one of the first. 7. What is planned in the game for launch? A: First the game will contain two factions from Generals, EU vs GLA. However, with time, we plan to add a new faction.
  20. Those games are also the model here - part of it, at least - Golan. Again with the not sense making.... Oy. The problems are created not to encourage paying money, but to encourage further play. It is up to the player to choose if he wants to invest work or money. Yes, part of the repetition would, in theory, encourage paying instead of working/playing. However, I personally believe this is flawed. Very flawed. I'm very much against P2W, and I really don't understand why we keep arguing about it. The point is that P2W is a bad idea, in PvP specifically. I contend that it's also a bad idea in PvE - however, your reasons for it are not the right reasons. I wrote this yesterday: http://theravencypher.blogspot.co.il/2012/08/pay-2-win-in-pve-good-for-retention.html It's Psychology 101. I think you'll be able to extrapolate from the blog post above. I believe he means to group Single Player along with non competitive PvE - you know, like ME3's multiplayer? @Blbpaws, 1. That's true. However, they still need brand recognition. And in this case Generals is a good choice, because you still get the full MP the original Generals was known for - without the SP... the original Generals was also notorious for 2. Yeah, that's absolutely correct. I made the same point when I first heard about it. Something they need to overhype if and when they do make the SP DLCs. That really was a miscalculated move, in that regard. And I think that it will get to the Bioware front as well, to add to the recent turmoil around the ME3 ending, then these conspiracies about Zeschuk's leaving of Austin. 3-5... Same. Agree. The strategy can be much better. I don't think you're wrong. I'm just willing to wait. If you're asking why I'm willing to wait - because this isn't just another whim regarding C&C. The F2P, or rather the Service model is something being done EA wide. It was announced at E3 this year. Across most of EA's franchises. This is the first time it's actually being done as part of a company wide strategy. C&C, in this case, is not just another marginalized franchise to shoot. C&C4 already did that.
  21. Why is that bad game design? Also, again - the feeling of achievement is much more real when you achieve it, and not pay for it. So, again, your point being?
  22. No, Jehal, the problems seems to be that you don't understand that in the example of ME3's PvE there's no advantage of climbing faster to anything, except for the sake of the climb (i.e. new unlocks, characters and weapons). There's no end goal, there's no champion. Hence, it's not the same thing.
  23. That's bull. Sorry, but it is. First of all, they are talking about Paid Games. The ME2 DLC was well worth the price, IMO - at least the Lair of the Shadow Broker was. Excellent DLC. You pretty much get an expansion pack content, or half that, at a fraction of the price. Don't see anything wrong with that. As for On Disc DLC - yeah, they suck. But there is a good reason for doing this, in some cases. Most of these DLCs are made during and after final approval of the main game. After testing. So, to cut downloads, they tack the various models and resources on the disc - later to be unlocked after full testing with a smaller download. A few libs (which 2MB can contain A LOT of code) to bind all those resources together. So there can be a good reason. Also, the reason he gives, regarding used sales, is also good. And, again, I don't see the problem here. If you get the MP for free, and then for example say 3 faction campaigns, each as a separate DLC, costing anything between 10-20$ each. It's basically a perfectly fair trade off. And more than likely it'll cost less than those evening 20$ (evening to 60$).
