Sonic 296 Posted July 5, 2008 The first Empire of the Rising Sun unit profile has been posted on the Official Red Alert 3 Site. And it features the largest of the Empire of the Rising Sun's units, King Oni. As always there is the usual concept art as well as a detailed profile. Here is a sample. When the Empire finally revealed its military might, many top military aides in the Soviet Union quickly resigned in embarrassment, while others were incarcerated (or worse) for failing to gather sufficient data on their new enemies. Some maintain that reasonable human error caused the world's greatest military minds to fail to detect the development of Imperial forces purely designed for ambush. However, there is no satisfying explanation for how a monstrosity such as the King Oni could have been overlooked by the global intelligence community's top aides and agents until this massive battle-walker was already being put to use on the front lines. How could such a preposterous weapon, which flies in the face of decades of conventional mechanized warfare, have been developed purely in isolation? The only explanation that makes any sense is that the Allied nations and the Soviet Union were so embroiled in their own conflict that they became oblivious to the storm brewing in the far east; a storm best characterized by the unbelievable visage of the King Oni. Check out the full King Oni profile for more, including a short video. Share this post Link to post
Red Blitzkrieg 0 Posted July 6, 2008 Japan has just topped the Soviets as my fave faction Share this post Link to post
Alphabear 11 Posted July 6, 2008 Given the high costs involved with R&D wouldn't it make more sense to put the new armor and the eye lasers on a tank? It would lose some of the 'coolness' factor but one would think it would better for the overall war effort. Share this post Link to post
Sonic 296 Posted July 6, 2008 lolgundam I'm being careful here because of my NDA. But its no secret that the design of the Empire of the Rising Sun is taken from sources like the one you mentioned their DD. Plus others which I can't go to into specifics about. While the Allies and Soviets have improvements this Empire faction could be everyone's actual favourite. Share this post Link to post

Well, I hope there will still be some originality when this thing is done. Soviets will always be better though. Share this post Link to post
rEdaSbLood 1 Posted July 6, 2008 true i hope there is originality. the game looks great and id hate for it to be tarnished with an unoriginal third faction lacking creativity. its unlikely though that they would do that. im sure they worked it out.. Share this post Link to post
Gben 20 Posted July 7, 2008 I saw gundam a couple of times - never got into it... but this looks more like an ape to me? I had never thought about a wish-list of Empire units... - but why not major motoko kusanagi as the commando unit or one of the tachikoma's as the anti-infantry units - both from the GITS:SAC? - I would *LOVE* to see a veritech fighter from S1 of Robotech... - Also a big Transformers G1 fan - but nothing really sticks out because they mainly try to mimic civilian assets... I would so prefer a Kusanagi over a sailormoon-esque commando? Anyway - not too long to go - before all is revealed. (By the way I was shocked that they were releasing Empire unit information. Now I suddenly side with Saracen in thinking EA is releasing too much information!) Share this post Link to post
