Interesting... Now that's 2 albums in September I'm gonna have to buy.

The other one is Papa Roach's New Album, so expect a new obsessive avatar, sig, and thread about them again in the next week or so when they announce the art and track listing :P

80s eh? Id rather theyd make albums in "...and jusice for all"-style again. Best composition imho.

Justice was made in 1988, it was the successor to Master of Puppets from 1986. So there's your 80's composition ;)

Watch the trailers at http://www.missionmetallica.com, there are samples and riffs of the new songs.

might be interested in getting some of the songs in the future if they really do sound like their old stuff... but i doubt i'd go out of my way and buy the cd. i'm not that much of a fan of them o.o; i'm more into judas priest and iron maiden for my hard rock :3

Wow... and here I lived in the misbelief that aJfa is from 1994...which is silly because I knew it was released before Vertigo (The black album/Metallica) and I also knew that Vertigo was released just before 1992. I have to say, Metallica was way ahead of their time. That's why I love Ajfa that much. Cool!

The Unforgiven III, eh? Oh snap.

There are rumours going around that The Unforgiven III maybe an instrumental track.

instrumental aye? interesting... could be really good could be really bad. have to wait and see but usually instrumentals are kickass xD any idea how long it is?

Its not uncommon for Metallica to do instrumentals. They did one on each album through the 1980's in one form or another.

  • Kill'em All 1983: (Anesthesia) Pulling Teeth
  • Ride the Lightning 1984: The Call of Ktulu
  • Master of Puppets 1986: Orion
  • ...And Justice for All 1988: To Live Is to Die
No idea of the track lengths for any of the songs. But I've heard that some are around the 7-9 minute mark.

The longer each song is, the less that fits on the album. When Metallica released Load in 1996 they had to chop down the running time The Outlaw Torn otherwise the CD wouldn't play with out skipping. The Outlaw Torn was later released on a CD single in 1997 as the The Outlaw Torn (Unencumbered by manufacturing restrictions version). It runs for about 11 minutes.

Psh. Their anthems are made of epic and win. Get their 42 minute epic. It's awesome.

I agree with Blackout, 6 minutes is a good max length for songs. I don't mind the odd "long" song. But 42 minutes, seems excessive to me...

42 minutes o_o; holy heck... can you say "bleeding fingers"? that is insane...

It would be easy to loop the same riff over and over for 42 minutes I guess :P

if the 42 minute track is just studio editted and made up of a zillion five minute instrumentals, then fair nuff... but if they actually played straight for 42 minutes @.@ and without any mistakes... is that even humanly possible? o_O

It's a bunch of big songs in one big ass take. And yes, they have performed the whole 42 minute epic live.

oh freaking ow... i feel sorry for that poor guitarist X3; even if you like playing guitar that's a tad too long for one sitting o_O; i get exhausted playing guitar hero on easy with a 4 - 5 minute song... but something like that? daaamn they must have stamina oO;;

They play live shows all the time. Lots of guitaring going on. Besides, Petrucci is a god among guitarists. :P
