We could capture the energy from this and use it to power the world, one roll at a time! :)

i dont think it would work it could power one town or something like that but there is no way it could power everything because its not unlimited tape would simply replace coal or somehing like that the only way it could power the world is if you built a powerplant in every town/city/village on the planet and that would cost more than anything one goverment or company would pay fore something that would bring no money in at all unless you made ppl pay fore it but then poor ppl would have no power so it wouldnt be powering the world it would be one more kind of power plant that dosnt fix anything.

Its producing X-rays not electricity.

uuuh... xrays aren't really much use... beyond seeing through things. and did you read that? the tape only produces an x-ray for a microsecond. to power anything for more then an instant you'd need fantastic amounts of -huge- scotch tape rolls constantly being pulled. i mean you'd need like, a hundred all peeling at the same time just to power a toaster. and that's assuming you somehow found a way to convert xrays into electricity... which, even if it is possible is just so impractical... i mean to power a town you'd need a ridiculous amount of scotch rolls... we're talking more land area then the actual town itself o-O i'd rather stick with the many many methods we have already which actually -work- XD

and add the fact that producing this tape also requires power.

yah xD it would take more electricity or human effort then you would actually produce. it's a negative power source :\ no use... but let us keep trying to find a solution for the world power issues though... you never know, put a bunch of monkeys in a room with typewriters long enough and one of them will write shakespear XDDDD if we focus hard enough we -will- succeed :3

It would help though. If everyone harnessed the energy from the tape they used then that's like one less power plant on Earth. :P

Wouldnt come close to being the equivalent of 1 power plant even if you managed to come up with some way to generate electricity from x-rays in the first place.

Of course, the odds of hitting those letters in that order are 1 in 27,197,360,938,418,176. If you have 5 monkeys pound out a ten-letter word every two seconds, the odds are it would take them 861,832,361 years to get it right.

Don't bring your facts in here lol

Honestly though that is alot but chances are they wouldn't constantly type, nor would their typing be completely random.

I'm pretty sure monkeys wouldn't live a day over the first million years, much less another 860.

What happened to good old solar power?

...........and wind power, and wave power, and tidal power, and, oh whatever...

I don't think people didn't get it, it's just not something that is so stand-alone amusing. So it had to be upgraded through mock sincerity.

The initial joke could have been presented better, I think.

well there you go then :3 if those monkeys can do it we sure as heck can! i mean if we can string words together so they make some kind of sense surely we can also come up with some amazing world-changing device ^-^ and with the gawd knows how many people on here chances are -one- of them is like, a particle physics expert or something. i'm willing to bet there is at least someone on this forum who can create facinating things from their imagination and actually make it work in real life o.o

surely there is a genius here somewhere that has created something equal or more efficient then the solar panel o.o; but whatever, chances are that person was a "one-poster" type who just signed up to voice a strong opinion or ask a stupid question then left and forgot about this forum xD

Better than a solar panel? Hmm, how about nuclear? It is the best thing we got, the only problem is the idiots that don't understand how a nuclear power plant works and think they are dangerous. Ignorant people holding humanity back is almost as bad as the madmen that want advancement at all costs, I won't mention China here... oops, just did.

nuclear fission is dangerous, and all the waste is terrible

just wat a few hundred years for the Fusion core ;)

nuclear fission is dangerous

Although unnecessary, thanks for the example.

You are correct, sir.

ok people, everybody has been saying that we need to lessen our fuel consumsion right? so why dont people harnes feul cell energy systems as well as wind and hydro power? that is my question. everone doesnt really care at the moment, that is the problem.
