CNC Toys ?

Hey Guys i was thinking about something since CNC is so sucessful who here thinks that we well get a movie or toys or something clause if they realised toys id be the first one to have colleted them all and they could be prtty good too give too my kids

The C&C movie idea was tossed around for years, as far back as 1997, 1998 and 1999. Westwood often spoke about the possibiblty of doing a movie but nothing ever happened.

 

As for toys, there were some Renegade Havoc figurines and models of the Flame Tank, Medium Tank etc. There were also some of the RA2 Tanya. I've forgotten who made them though.

i remember a few years back we had quite a big topic going on wither there will be a CNC movie. i am all for it but we will all be 60+ before we ever see it done.

 

i recon that the guy how plays Cypher in the matrix (Joe Pantoliano) would make a cool commander. and the Wachowski brothers should direct it. but that is my opinion.

the wachowski brothers?! are you serious? o_O ew ew ew >.<; that would be horrible... i mean i know the matrix series was a big flashy blockbuster but let's face it, the second two movies blew hard apart from the mech scene in the third one. cos that was just epic. nooo we need a well experienced excellent director... i'd say someone like spielberg but he's probably gonna be dead by the time the movie came around the being created... hmm... what about JJ Abrams... or james cameron... or john mctiernan (predator, last action hero, hunt for the red october, die hard, 13th warrior etc etc...) i'd definately say one of the latter two... though JJ shows a little promise. wait til we see how he does with star trek and if it turns out to be excellent, then i'll keep him as a possible choice xD but the way it's heading... the cast list for the new trek is just awful. none of the characters look anything like the original cast. i mean come on...

anyway.

 

yeah we definately need more C&C toys. however we need more decent C&C games to base the toys on o.o though i would like to see a whole range of all the RA2 and YR toys... an i don't mean just a couple like we had but like, almost all the units :3

a C&C movie would be just the thing we need. then we could have people making replica props from the movie, like armour and weapons ^-^ i'm sure we could make props from the screencaps in the other games, but they are too indistinguishable from real life armours or other sci-fi movies :\ eh... go figure...

heck yeah xD you know it! though i'd probably go all out and be a tesla trooper... or a GI... probably something that is instantly recognizable o.o admit it, it would kick ass xD and just to top it all off i'd fit my costume with a custom-made lil voice box soundboard thing... so i could press a button and it would play one of multiple quotes for that unit xD you know it would rule! hehe

the music for red alert 3 and Lucusarts has a great CGI team

as a true person who has never payed attention to sub story (Animatrix) and the level of detail these guys put in it would be f***ing stupid not to pick them, they keep true to story and they put lots of effort to get it right, when a lot of directors just jump when they are told to jump but the owner (eg waner bro. etc), it is better to get a director that will put there balls on the line and make sure it is right , then just do a cash in on the name, witch happens a lot with movies related to games.

It wouldn't work well as a movie either. A miniseries perhaps covering one of the games. But it would either have to be a war movie (follow a squad or whatever) or a diplomatic type thing. Sooo yeah.

 

I'll stick with battlestar galactica for the awesome war/drama series

that is why that it should be done by directors that are really good, and keep to the story but it will need to go thought script revisions done by fans.

i bought the animatrix when it came out... it was kinda depressing. and i have paid attention to a great deal of things. yes, they did go to quite extreme details. but the second two movies just were -not- good... i mean let's be honest here, the second movie was a SPACE FILLER. nothing -really- happened that they couldn't have squeezed into one of the other two movies...

so y'know, don't say i'm not paying attention just because i'm giving it a negative review. the second two movies are just sucky. the second movie was completely pointless and not needed and the third movie was just one big godmod battle between neo and smith. the only thing i liked from the third movie was the mech battle and they didn't show enough of it... i definately think we should have mctiernan doing it o.o (assuming he's still alive o-o i think he did die hard 4 though so he should be o.O) cos he did purely excellent stuff... if they made C&C as a squad based movie it would RULE. diplomatic would be alright but kind of boring... no, we need action on the ground. scale working props of everything, full costumes and proper acting ^-^

the reason why there were 3 movies is because the original idea was 2 but it would have been a 6hour movie so they split it like LOTR, that would suck if they shorted that to one movie, and if it wasn't for that second movie every one would have been wft!, i would say most people to this day still don't notice neo jump at the end of the matrix doing the Super(flying)man thing, and the gap between all 3 moves lost lots of people and the fact that there are people that don't appreciate detail and depth, the just want 90min of pure action.

 

 

i think the cnc movie should be filmed in 3rd person just like renegade with some stella doom moments.

it's not that i just want 90 minutes of action. i just want a -decent- plot that makes sense. not some plot then a couple of hours of random filler which is completely unrelated. it's like "oh, okie we need to kill some time so we're gonna make up some pointless back stories will have nothing to do with the plot and we're gonna make the characters go on some random quests! enjoy!" i don't like that. and third person? are you serious? that would be freaking lame in a movie o-O; first person was bad enough in Doom, but at least that was slightly entertaining and it had geek appeal. but third person? uuuh no... it's a bad angle for movies. maybe in a couple of scenes from behind them, a -tiny- bit above normal eye level, and showing off in the distance, like if you're on the top of a cliff overlooking a huge army at the bottom. then a third person angle would be good. but the rest of the time you want to focus on what is happening and the character's faces o.O i mean if characters are talking, you need to see faces so you know who is talking o.o

maybe -one- scene in third person, like if there is an intense action sequence with the character having to avoid bullets and tank shots an stuff like that... but in general third and first person sequences FAIL in movies bigtime. real bad idea...

you really have to stop writing me off as some "on the band wagon" noob. i'm a heavy movie fanatic and proud of it. my favourite genres are sci-fi, war and oldish horrors... as well as b-movies. so believe me, i know when something works and when it doesn't xD if C&C is made it has to be real props, animatronics and special effects -no- cgi. i don't care how good you think today's cgi is, in 5 - 10 years it will look awful, assuming it makes it past today's audience. but real life animatronics and special effects? if done well they will outlast everything because it's REALLY THERE so of course it looks real x3 like The Thing or Alien...

we need decent camera work. no shakey cams, no handy cams... decent film crew, decent lighting. i wanna be able to -see- the action...

and believe me, everyone i've spoke to about the matrix noticed the superman jump. it's kind of hard not to... see i want detail and depth. very much so, every movie needs it. but no plot fillers :\ the animatrix was a GREAT idea because it gave you lots of background stories AS AN EXTRA OPTION. you could find out way more about the universe if you chose to. see if they wanted to expand the matrix movies they should have dumped all the crud in the second movie and just told the history in detail (i found that animatrix story about what led up to the events very emotional. the scene with the robot female being pushed around and beaten... that makes me cry everytime. is it wrong to relate more to cybernetic organisms then real life people? anyway...) but yah if they had just made that into most of the second movie it would have explained a LOT more and it would have made sense. if they had done that i would buy all three movies and display them proudly on my shelf. but no. also renegade was first person wasn't it? o_O

you could change renegade?! o-o wow awesome. i guess that explains where all those renegade mod screenshots came from xD i was like "how the heck did they take those photos?! o-O" well whatever. handy to know...

 

a C&C movie would be GREAT. -if- it followed a certain path - it would have to be either a political thriller with a little action (bleh. it would probably turn into one of those tv lunchtime movies which feature on channels like "movies4men" or "zone thriller" or whatever...) or it would be an action packed movie which either featured on some of the hero characters or a squad, much in the way of Band of Brothers or Saints and Soldiers o.o and both of those were pretty darn kickass... that way they could get away with having a new cast, or even have propaganda posters or videos... or even like, mission briefings in a tent on a computer at the base with the old stars... using the commanders. and there could be a running gag of the squad's officer chatting to the "commander" of the mission. ie: the game's player... and you would never see their face xD like you'd see them from behind or you'd see the back of the monitor with the squad officer looking at it... or the player would be in some kind of armour or something XDDD but seriously there are so many things you could do with it, so many little details and in-jokes. the C&C community needs to create a script and put it forward, or in the very least make a (proper) attempt at making a fan movie xD but it would take a lot of work... we'd need like, accurate costumes, weapons and props etc... i'm sure at least one person on the forum could do some fancy cgi or like, record some real explosions and use some film editting or something o.o we just need some proper talent (or at least as decent as the RA2/YR actors XD and having seen the RA3 theme video in the game just now, maybe we should hire up tim curry too... that video was truely epic)

 

but yah, let's be honest here, the C&C players aren't looking for an amazing blockbuster film. we all loved and cherished the many many C&C mission briefings, both for their entertaining acting and for good visuals. a C&C movie doesn't have to stunning but it does need to be amusing and entertaining enough for the fans... or bad enough to render it into a cult classic o.o

I've seen a few sites showing renegade toys: GDI Orca, Stealth tank, Mammoth Tank, i think i might have seen others but that's all i can remember

okie here's the summed up drift of my previous post;

we need to make a C&C movie. preferably one that is squad based, that way we won't need big actors.

we would need costumes and props and someone to do the effects

failing actually making a movie, we should write up some scripts and send them to a big company to get the film made
