Mina Synd 0 Posted December 2, 2008 ...yah, the t-rex killed them all apparently. even though it was still pretty much locked up inside the cargo bay at the time o.O my theory is that either; 1) it got out, ate everyone and brought some meat back down into the cargo bay for the baby... and the torn off arm on the control button had some automatic flexing which shut the button (nerve twitching. it happens on corpses... however there was only like, an arm left on the button so i don't know if there would be enough of the muscles to press it. unless maybe one of the fingers or thumb twitched and triggered it) thus shutting the t-rex back in or 2) as they were launching the boat, raptors or something got on and killed everyone then got off as the boat was leaving automatically controlled by the computer. the faults in this theory is that whatever killed everyone would have to get off the boat which would have been at least a little way away from the island by the time everyone was dead... also raptors don't remove WHOLE bodies. they would just seperate limbs and leave a horribly torn up corpse on the floor... ...also the fact that raptors are really only a foot or two high and survived by eating eggs. they looked more like birds, covered in feathers and were not much bigger then the compys that killed the european mercenary xD but yah, this was pretty much overlooked to make way for an entertaining movie. though there was another dinosaur that was about the same size as the raptors in the movie... ( Deinonychus. also on the subject, look up gigantoraptor. i am not joking, it's a real dinosaur. found in 2005, it's basically an oviraptor which is a little smaller then a t-rex. the picture comparison size with a human made me laugh. then be happy that i wasn't around back then...) but y'know it's a hollywood movie. it wasn't designed with science and technical accuracy in mind xD Share this post Link to post
Alphabear 11 Posted December 2, 2008 While i cant remember its name, Mina is right in saying the velociraptors in the movie are actually based of another dinosaur, as raptors are much smaller and slightly different to what was portrayed. Share this post Link to post
Nmenth 291 Posted December 2, 2008 While i cant remember its name, Mina is right in saying the velociraptors in the movie are actually based of another dinosaur She said it already, Deinonychus. There was some stuff involved in the whole use of which dinos and such for that movie. I did some research on the velociraptor and deinonychus a while back and Jurrasic Park was something I read up on during that. It's been too long though and since I didn't care that much, I forgot it all. They makers of the movie knew they were using inaccurate dinosaurs though, I remember that much. comander starlin 6 Posted December 2, 2008 jurassic park 2?????????????????? that is just plan mashed, we now get our scares from mist! lol, i have no idea why maybe they wanted to check on the dino, and being really dumb decided to go in and check it out????? i don't know just ignore my comment Share this post Link to post
Luk3us 63 Posted December 2, 2008 JP1 was the best of the three. The second one was just pure L O L. The third one wasn't much better either... I mean seriously, how many islands are these things on FFS? Share this post Link to post
Alphabear 11 Posted December 2, 2008 The third one is on the same island from JP2 Share this post Link to post
Mina Synd 0 Posted December 2, 2008 also i'm pretty sure they are real islands... i think there are three in total. maybe a couple more, but the ones in the movies were the large ones, the others are much smaller xD i think JP1 is definately the best by far, but the other movies did have their own qualities. i also heard there was a JP4 in progress. what i'd -love- would be say, a military unit being put on the island and seeing them actually fighting. JP2 was good, but when they were actually fighting with the dinos it was all tranq darts and such. and there wasn't any real action which we got to see. though on this line of thought a dino crisis movie would be good... or something along those lines. maybe like timeslip or samurai commando mission 1549 but teleporting back to a time with dinosaurs like in certain RA2 missions :3 i mean there are movies like that, but they are always small scale things, lowish budget movies like carnosaur or raptor (not that they are bad movies xD) we need bigass whole regiments or battalions going in with vehicles! :3 Share this post Link to post

Luk3us 63 Posted December 2, 2008 That sounds like a good idea, cept for the FACT Turok was a total ******* of a game. :s Share this post Link to post
comander starlin 6 Posted December 3, 2008 hay Luk3us, dot hassel tourk the games rule, number 2 was the best. but the latest adaption was ok Share this post Link to post
Nmenth 291 Posted December 3, 2008 This isn't a solution, but perhaps evidence that there is no solution. A boarding party then finds out the gruesome reason why there was no one to slow it down. The entire crew is dead and eaten, which is largely unexplainable, seeing that the only dinosaur on the ship was a T. rex, and therefore much too large to fit into intact human-sized quarters. However, a human hand is found attached to the button enclosing the rex, hinting that it had gotten free and they had attempted to cage it again (it is explained that the Tyrannosaur collapsed and went into shock due to a tranquilizer overdose, therefore the crew gave it a drug to counteract the effects: however, without the proper dosage, the dinosaur was given too much, making it berserk). Mina Synd 0 Posted December 6, 2008 lawl. once again, turok is too small scale. at most there is a military base or two. there are no large scale starship troopers 1 style battles are there? that is what i wanna see! i wanna see lots and lots of random extras fighting against dinos as they try to escape, slowly being whittled down into a group of survivors. and i don't wanna see obvious survivors... just random soldiers that got lucky. like "banzai batallion" in 2000ad (it was only originally a 3-part mini-series throwaway but it was so popular it got it's own proper story) which was about 3" high robotic pest control droids. pretty awesome but too short. there was another excellent mini (ish) story series i remember seeing in 2000ad in like, the late 90's or early 00's about an infantry unit of about 100 soldiers that get teleported into what is apparently a "hell" dimension. very quickly the nature of this world turns the men insane or kills them off in various disturbing ways. all i know is when i read it i was pretty young and it was more intense then any movie i had seen at that point (including the alien movies, predator movies, exorcist, original evil dead and so on...) which isn't saying much but it was more powerful visually then all the movies my parents had said "oooh no you can't watch that! it's violent and bad!" note i've just spent my whole freaking morning trying to find the name of that little story. i could of course just phone up my big cousin and get him to skim through his collection to find them. but where's the fun in that? though it is handy having a family member who has collected every single episode since the late 80's xD (i think he still buys them. might have given it up i dunno. all i know is he had a whole wardrobe full of them in boxes...) so yah, generally a movie with a lot of soldiers in LARGE numbers getting hacked down over time by dinosaurs. or any other kind of critter, be it bugs or aliens. if anyone knows of any that i haven't already mentioned, TELL ME O_O also any historical war movies which follow the same deal (big force with lots of cast, dying over time) like the alamo with john wayne (i know, awful movie. inncorrect historically in every way. but the fact there were so many extras made it visually impressive in the final battle) if you know a war movie which features a LARGE cast list, lots of extras, both of the good and bad sides, TELL ME @.@ be it historical or sci-fi, I WANNA KNOW D: Share this post Link to post
Julbri 0 Posted December 6, 2008 so yah, generally a movie with a lot of soldiers in LARGE numbers getting hacked down over time by dinosaurs. More movies like that should be made. Why would you make war movies like jarhead and black hawk down when you could make one about the whole american army taking on jurassic park and only 4 or five people making it out. Mina Synd 0 Posted December 6, 2008 -NOTE- incoming rant and random movie list examples! skip to the bottom to avoid xD although you were agreeing with me i have to say; that was REALLY arrogant >-> and i'm guessing you really don't like americans. black hawk down was the telling of a tragic military blunder. movies like this SHOULD be made. it honours those who died and tells the story. sadly these movies often aren't 100% accurate, but normally they will get the viewers attention enough to make them curious about what happened, either watching a documentory on the subject or reading some factual websites or whatever... and jarhead? it gave us a glimpse into the mind of an american soldier of today's american army. this was also required... movies which tell psychological stories of the common soldier will bring much needed sympathy towards them, as well as many other emotions... i know they may have been hollywood movies and full of technical innaccuracies, but they told stories that did need to be told at one point or another. if you wanna rant at a hollywood war movie, rant on saving private ryan. yes, it had a GREAT landing sequence... however from that point on it went steadily downhill. it's possible those events did happen like that but it was heavily overly "hollywoodized" if you know what i mean. if you wanna see WW2 movies i would recommend a lot of german ones. i know it sounds tacky, but generally the hollywood movies get the "braggers rights" because the americans "won the war" (if i may mention, really it was the canadians that won the european war out of the western allies...) many many german-made WW1/2 movies may not be as famous because they don't have the extreme budgets and mass-media influence to spread them worldwide, but they are a lot better and often a lot more historically accurate. Das Boot, Stalingrad, Cross of Iron, Downfall and many more... i will warn you now though, generally the german made war movies are often very historically blunt and accurate. which means they ARE depressing. even if the ending is good, it's often a bittersweet ending. good british war movies include; all quiet on the western front (methinks... pretty sure that was english made o.O), the great escape (horribly innaccurate but c'mon, the amount of stars in that one movie and steve mcqueen on a motorbike XD britons are forced to watch it every christmas since it was made @.@), escape to victory (WW2 and football. it has stallone, michael caine and a zillion REAL footballers of that era), then many many other ones... a bridge too far etc etc. some good american war movies i've seen are eastwood's pair - "flags of our fathers" and "letters from iwo jima" which were pretty impressive and pretty accurate to boot... then the classic vietnam movies such as platoon and hamburger hill... apocalypse now, full metal jacket... etc etc etc. believe it or not, not all vietnam movies are american made... recently i saw one which followed a group of aussies... and there is a semi-famous asian horror movie which features (i think. going from memory here...) a platoon of south vietnamese soldiers in the field... it was pretty darn good actually. -NOTE- end of rant: anyway! back on topic. GIMMIE YO LARGE SCALE WAR MOVIES! :3 if possible, sci-fi. once again, if possible in colour but not new enough to have all the baddies/monsters in cgi >.> but y'know, i'll take what i can get ^-^ gimmigimmigimmie! :3 Share this post Link to post

Alphabear 11 Posted December 7, 2008 More movies like that should be made. Why would you make war movies like jarhead and black hawk down when you could make one about the whole american army taking on jurassic park and only 4 or five people making it out. Because the later would become some obscure movie that only people like Mina watch as opposed to being hallmark blockbuster movies. Share this post Link to post
Mina Synd 0 Posted December 8, 2008 pish. note the "hallmark blockbuster movies" are almost always HOLLYWOOD movies. they don't require much. just a fancy director, expensive actors and lots of action and CGI. they are rarely ever technically or historically correct. they are simply made to cry to the masses and make as much money as possible... large scale movies -have- been made before, but never (to my knowledge) in the style that i'm talking about. they are usually just bigass battles with lots of extras and stuff. because most movie companies won't pay out for a cast list that large to feature in most of the movie... normally in these large scale movies you have about 5 big stars then lots of extras who get one scene, maybe a couple more if they didn't die in the previous one or if they are facing away from the camera... there have been a few large scale movies (battle of the bulge, a bridge too far...) and they did have quite a few famous actors. they were "hallmark blockbuster movies" WHEN THEY CAME OUT. nowadays no-one much knows about them because the majority of the population who watch movies only watch the latest crud pumped out by hollywood. and those two examples were GOOD movies. do you really think anyone is gonna give a darn about the new transformers movie 20 or 30 years from now? or heaven forbid, twilight? XD when i went to a convention near the start of this year, the guy who voiced bumblebee was there. he said ONE line in the ENTIRE movie. and there was a queue of about 50 people all pretty much orgasming to speak to him. whereas david prowse (also there. the body of vader in the original movies) didn't have ANYONE speaking to him the whole time i was there. the funny thing was, the new transformers movie was average at best. oh yes, don't get me wrong. real pretty cgi. but that was it. it made the real transformers' fans CRY. the only reason it got so much press was because it was hollywood. they have the power to put their movies all over the world, as well as advertising it to everyone. so in return, hundreds and hundreds of little nooblets went out to see the movie, and because they don't know a real movie if it kicks them in the nuts, they of course LOVE the movie and will defend it to death. not to mention the fact that most people are apparently BLIND and can't see cgi at all... i can understand some of the newer movies fooling some people. from some angles some things do look real. but it really doesn't take a genius to see when most things are CGI... let's take, for example, when final fantasy; the spirits within came out shall we? a lot of people i knew thought it was REAL PEOPLE in the movie. eeeyah don't believe the average person when they start going "OMG OMG OMG THIS MOVIE RULZ!" if they are just some teenager who watches the latest bigscore movies. personally i'd rather trust the people who search out and watch lots of movies, good and bad, purposely so they can find the pick of the crop and the true gems out there... also, if you're going to watch horror and things like Ring or Grudge, watch the original asian versions. they were actually scary...
