Sonic 296 Posted February 3, 2009 The Renegade X team have posted their update for February. In this update we get a look at the Light Tank, previews of the Walls Flying map, as well as previews of the Scorpion Hunters map, which was the first level in C&C Renegade. There is also some concept art of the Flame Tank and a new screen shot featuring the HUD System, which you can see below. Take a look at the full update for more info. And don't forget to vote for Renegade X for 'Mod of the Year' at ModDB, voting ends on February 2nd so there is still some time left to get your vote in. Share this post Link to post
Gben 20 Posted February 3, 2009 Why do we have to log in to view the update? Seems like a short-circuit way to expand the website... Share this post Link to post
Sonic 296 Posted February 3, 2009 Why do we have to log in to view the update? I guess its to get more people to register. Anyway, you can view the same update at http://www.moddb.com/mods/renegade-x/news/...february-update without the need to register for anything. Share this post Link to post
Gben 20 Posted February 3, 2009 (edited) Ah thanks for moddb link... EDIT: I like the new HUD, but it's in widescreen. How cramped will it be in the traditional 4:3??? Edited February 3, 2009 by gben Share this post Link to post
Johnnyxp64 20 Posted February 3, 2009 (edited) now here it goes the "WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWWWWW" this is an amazing mode, i love the widescreenshots. and the new UI (hud) is great! those guys are doing a very professional job, escesially yhe levels and the 3D models! very detailed! i think in 4:3 will me maybe a little ugly, but yet again maybe some of those will take vertical position. most monitors in our days are 16:9 thought. G0NE2W4R 0 Posted February 3, 2009 Walls.mix and the light tank are fantastic. Though I dunno why there is a back way in the GDI and NOD bases...probably they're adding new pathways. I like the new Hud, especially the idea to show the building health on the left of the screen. Thumbs up to fobby and his team. Share this post Link to post
Troopzor 5 Posted February 4, 2009 (edited) I love Ren-X definitely my favorite mod of all time so far. Sad part is, APOC didn't mention it in the new C&C BCPT! How unfair is that?! Especially considering their last update had an AWESOME new trailer. I even posted a topic about it on the official forums http://forums.commandandconquer.com/jforum.../list/7963.page Edited February 4, 2009 by Sonic Offensive comments removed by Admin Share this post Link to post
Sonic 296 Posted February 4, 2009 Renegade X probably wasn't mentioned in APOC's segment simply because its a mod for a competitors product. BCPT/C&CTV has covered RenX in the past though. Share this post Link to post
Gben 20 Posted February 4, 2009 most monitors in our days are 16:9 thought. Not me... Share this post Link to post
TheBlackOut 7 Posted February 4, 2009 Awesome update for an awesome mod, to put it simply. i think in 4:3 will me maybe a little ugly, but yet again maybe some of those will take vertical position. most monitors in our days are 16:9 thought. According to Steam Hardware Survey, 1280x1024 is the most common resolution (it is mine as well), a 5:4 resolution, which is closer to 4:3 than 16:9. Share this post Link to post
Gben 20 Posted February 4, 2009 pffft... you and your verifiable facts don't belong here! This is the INTERNET... it's a magical place of rants which skew off-topic and nonsense with no anchor to the physical realm. It's about bragging, bluffing, and girly pictures! Share this post Link to post
Troopzor 5 Posted February 4, 2009 (edited) Renegade X probably wasn't mentioned in APOC's segment simply because its a mod for a competitors product. BCPT/C&CTV has covered RenX in the past though. What I don't get is that just mentioning it once is still endorsing it. It's not like they are gonna say "Get this mod! But illegally Download UT3 to play it!". So if their going to say it once(2-3 times in fact), why stop now? I mean, Apoc even posted on their forums that he was 100% for this mod. OH! And the mod released a major christmas update recently, why was that update not mentioned either? I'm starting to think that maybe with the whole Tiberium failure that EALA is a little anti C&C FPS maybe? Edited February 4, 2009 by Troopzor Share this post Link to post
Mighty BOB! 5 Posted February 4, 2009 Why do we have to log in to view the update? Seems like a short-circuit way to expand the website... Bot control. I've tried to get our forum admin to install security tools like ReCAPTCHA, but he won't, so his quick and dirty solution was to require registration and logging in to even view the forums. (We used to have it where News and such was public, but if you wanted to read the OT or Live WIP you had to log in.) As for the extra "paths" on Walls, those are just to increase the player's suspension of disbelief. It doesn't make sense to fight over a completely walled-in box canyon (:cough: Blood Gulch) so we gave entrances to make it seem like the map is part of a larger world and that the factions actually have a way to enter and supply the bases. You won't be able to go on them or out of the level though, they're just for show. Share this post Link to post

You won't be able to go on them or out of the level though, they're just for show. I have always found that aspect annoying in games, somehow fighting in a box with no access. However, I must admit, I never even thought about it in Renegade. I guess it was full of enough action, there was no time for sightseeing. Share this post Link to post
Mighty BOB! 5 Posted February 4, 2009 Also I would like to mention that you can always view our full updates on our ModDB page without needing to register on our forums. (:cough:Soniccouldpostthatnexttime:cough:) Share this post Link to post
Gben 20 Posted February 5, 2009 Well Sonic *did* post the link to the moddb page... perhaps in future updates we/you/someone should just post both links on the post. I still think it's (forum login to view news) is an unnecessary barrier. I got started at cncnz after lurking for almost a year... well maybe 6mths... but you get the idea.
