Red Alert 3: Uprising Now Available

Red Alert 3: Uprising, the expansion pack for Red Alert 3, should now be available in all major territories around the world. A few things to take note of though. Remember you can only download Uprising and you won't find it in retails stores, it is single player only, there is no multiplayer (Internet or LAN) support. The download size is 5.3 GB. Not sure where to buy it from? Everyone can use the EA Store, while people in USA, Canada and the United Kingdom can use Direct2Drive. There is no word if Uprising will be made available on Steam just yet.

 

And keep it locked on CNCNZ.com because I'll be giving away a few free Red Alert 3: Uprising download codes soon. More info on that later. update omg i heared only a couple of soundtrucks but the main menu one that looks like a Japanise Opera is Amazing and gives a very serious mood to the story line!

 

very nice. not telling anything more i dont want to be a spoiler, just buy it! so far so cool! and i am to those guys telling "if the first impression is good then the final can only be better".

Is there a difference between the Direct2Drive and EA store version regarding copy protection?

I am asking because of the Patches. If they have the same copy protection and such, they would have the same patches.

Otherwise I would have to wait longer for Direct2Drive Patches.

No. It's a box, but instead of a DVD, it contains a download code. I don't think it expires.

I haven't downloaded anything from EA or Direct2Download before, and I have a question hopefully you guys can answer.

 

Is it true that you only have X amount of months or years to be able to download/reinstall what you buy and then you have to buy it again? Or is it like steam where you buy the game and can uninstall/redownload as many times as you want?

 

I really want to play this, but if I'm only able to download it for X amount of time I really don't feel like 'buying' it (seems like a long rental for$20 instead of an actual purchase).

 

Thanks in advance for any help.

 

EDIT: Also, are we going to be able to buy it from actual retail stores in April? If so, is it a permanent buy or is it going to be like my other question above?

hey guys the game is amazing so far and i enjoy it a lot!

 

i can confirm 100% for sure that the Uprising has the latest 1.08patch changes applied, as it should be as as its a digital download copy and not a physical one and thats super!

 

the game runs prety solid so far and i love the skirmishes with the new units, to be honest i would love to support some LAN expirance too, but i am not sure if this tool than enables LAN supprt will work with it!

 

i bought it from Direct2Drive UK and its doesnt say Anywhere that i have limits on how many times i can downloaded per year. ok it sounds logical if they have one year limit, they cant spend hard driver space for ever, after all i downloaded and i burn it on an empty DVD DL. so simple the game is only 5,5GB BUT you can easily remove few .cab files that have the NON English language (that i dont care) and the DirectX (that i also dont care cause i always download the latest one) and the game reduces it self and it can Fit in a normal 4,7 blank DVD-R.

 

whats the point of redownloading the game again and again and spend time for that?

Yeah you can only download it for up to a year, then they cut service. They provide an extended 5 year service for another $6 bucks though.

Yeah my download has finished, and I installed already. Just wanted to see the opening cinematic. But doesn't seem to be one...

 

I like the new menu, and the music as mentioned above.

The campaigns are locked by the way. Start with soviets or Yuriko. Allies and Empire are locked. I didn't check the descriptions to see if they were unlocked in chronological order Sov->Allies->Empire or if you can choose the 2nd campaign.

 

The opening cinematic, technically, is a recap of RA3. Which was nice, especially if you hadn't played the others.

 

I'm looking forward to playing this over the weekend, but I just *had* to get a taste...

It has been made very clear that this is a Single Player booster pack. If you want to play new units in multiplayer, you'll probably have to wait for the next booster pack.

yes thats right no copy-protection system, and thats how it should be, the protection is only if you try to play it more than 5 pcs and with a fake code, as red alert 3 is. drm is better than stupid cd-rom copy systems, now we can backup easy our games withoiut the need of extra tools like clone dvd cracks etc.

i think it is i havent tested 100% by trying to crack the game or enter any invalid serial but this is normal to be. whats the problem? i am telling you 100% i am not sure yet i will test it but thats what it seems to be from the installed files.

drm exists no problems at all. also you can deauthorise as ra3.

Has anyone who downloaded from Direct2Drive problems with extracting the EnglishMovieAudio.big file? Because I got a CRC error there during extraction (used an external download manager, not the one from Direct2Drive - maybe using the Direct2Drive one would check for correctness during download?).

I am currently re-downloading and hoping this will fix my problem. For such big files BitTorrent (of course I mean legal) would be way better because it splits the download into parts and every part is checked and if one is faulty it is re-downloaded.

Actually I wonder why a mechanism like this hasn't been implemented as a normal download protocol like FTP (I mean of course it wouldn't be called FTP then but...). Well: Acutally I think there is something like this available but I am not sure if it really includes checksums - I believe it is only multipart download and it isn't a standard either - for normal FTP too.

Not to mention that I am not so sure that the FTP protocol is really great for doing such stuff - especially because it misses the checksum support in its current form.

i started downloading from ftp 1st, deleted due to low speed (700kb/s) and i used the download manager they sugest. i got 2.000kbs/sec and got it very fast. all cabs were perfect.

Just redownloaded and this time there is no problem with it - btw. I used FTP download method again. I guess the last time was just a faulty download - maybe because I shutdown the PC once without pausing the download before (thought the download manager should have done that itself, it was not like I cut off the power).

 

Regarding your speeds: You sure have it good - whereever you live - actually my current max internet connection is at 200KB/s (I believe the max in my country is currently 1600KB/s but that is way more expensive. I think current not so expensive is about 800KB/s but average internet connection speed is definitely lower).

 

Which btw. was why I mentioned BitTorrent because I wouldn't have had to re-download the full package again (which takes rather lon at 200KB/s) that way.

Wow Sonic that's incredible speed for a NZ connection! Mine was only going at about 60kb/s, perhaps their servers were getting pwned.
