Are you just talking about Transformers here or all cartoons?

The point of cartoons is to NOT be real!

I'm still a big fan of the G1 80's Transformers, but I like the style of the new movies as well. The 1986 Transformers: The Movie will always be the greatest animated movie of all time. The opening battle at Autobot City is just damn cool!

Some of the G1 80's elements are still there in the new movies though.

Rotten Tomatoes has the critics giving it 32% positive reviews, but the community 72%.

As for Transformers, critics are at 21% and community 68%.

If you want to trust other people's opinions, Transformers sucks worse than T4.

M sister saw it, who's a great bale and Terminator fan, and she says that the acting, special effects, dialogues and story was abysmal. Hearing about the ending alone tought me not to see it in theaters.

I'm a firm believer in "there's no school like the old school" and this 'refreshing' only proves that to be true. It's not about the effects, design or story. They raped a great action cartoon like no other.

So you never like all refresh or remakes of any show, film and games?

I said "will be" because I have yet to watch it.

waste no time...go to your nearest cinema...w00t!

NO I'm not going to see it. This is a ****ing travesty, just like the first one. They took a great cartoon and made it lame.

**** you, Hollywood.

like they did on DragonBall?

No. I do enjoy remakes if they're done well. Transformers is just NOT done well.

I thought about seeing that just for a gag.

There are maybe 10 times the number of shootouts and explosions in Transformers 2 than there are in the first one. (and 3 to 5 times the number of transformers) I think they might have tried to put too many points in this one which made it a little hard to follow, or maybe it was because @#($ing Michael Bay likes to shove the camera 10 feet away from the 60 foot tall robots while they're fighting making it really hard to tell what is happening on screen.

Or maybe it was because we didn't get there before the previews started rolling so we ended up in the very front row...

One of my other friends wants to see it tomorrow so I agreed if only so I can sit further back and see the entire screen without having to physically turn my head this time.

One golden rule in cinemas, always take middle-rear seats for optimal experience.

Second rule, never go in on the nick of time or late, you need the time to settle down and you may just miss out on something.

Third rule, always relieve yourself in toilets before catching 1.5 to 3 hr films.

Extra rule, just turn off your bloody phone for crying out loud, I do not need the additional lady gaga or whatever weird ringtones.

Well the first transformer movie sure as hell didn't even come close to comparing to the cartoon series, it still was fun. So I'll probably go and see this one :)

I'm one of those old school people here. And I have everything from the G1 years.

After seeing the first live movie, I thought this is as close as they are going to get. The story had a few flaws and I'm very picky about them. But now seeing T2, they might as well rape old school. The CGI was about the only cool thing about this movie. The story was good then bad. It's like they shot a scene first, then wondered what the hell can we put into this with CGI. I have so many complaints about this movie. There are issues with two autobots who I thought were funny in some spots. But their language among other aspects was too much for young who watched it. A long drawn out movie. I could call everything before it even happen, which I flipping hate. This movie is a solid rental and my rating was a thumbs down.

Transformers 2 is all about the special effects. Everything is entirely secondary. I just ignored the "story" and "actors". The action was cool, and of course Yank military technology. :P

Not all the fight scenes were worth it. as posted before some were shot so close that you have no idea whats going on. some simply were stupid. such mentioned before, the slow down effect. yeah first time was neat, but over and over... got a bit lame.

as a gamer... I will deny it. so na na na nana.

well, the thing is, i got good seats. these seats (even in IMAX) were at a proper distance from the screen, making the movie a WHOLE lot more enjoyable.

i point and laugh at people who came to the movie just on time and got stuck with the crappy seats...fools

na na nah na na

I wonder if I would have puked in some of those scenes where the camera is spinning around at a IMAX. Just the normal view on some shots had me close my eyes.
