Obama unexpectedly got a Nobel Peace Prize

Recommended Posts

It appears that most news sources say he got a Nobel Peace Prize (along with $1.2+ million USD) for "designing to build momentum behind his initiatives to reduce nuclear arms, ease tensions with the Muslim world and stress diplomacy and cooperation rather than unilateralism". (source: Associated Press) The world is puzzled and astonished by this and some of them are objecting that he shouldn't deserve the prize.

Do you think it's too early for him to accept it or was this a mistake? He hasn't accomplished something major and it's only eight months after Obama's presidency.

According to this source: http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/world/u...how/5107789.cms,

Theodore Roosevelt was the first US president to accept the Nobel Peace Prize in 1905. Then other politicians followed after that sparkled controversies.

I think its premature, he has said a lot of nice things about, everyone and everything. But nothing has really happened yet.

I thought it was amusing how someone said that it appears that Europe and other nations like Obama more, than the American people, which may or may not be true. If you watch Fox News, Obama is the devil. :P

Obama is cool, he deserves any recognition coming to him.

As for Fox News, that channel pisses me right off. Especially shows like Glen Beck, how do they let this jackass rant on about bull**** all the time, then he gets really emotional about things . And what's with all their female presenters? They are all easy on the eyes, long legs, blonds and blue eyes.... which is a not a bad thing I guess.

They are simply appealing to their audience, and women are better at appealing to both sexes. :)

Glen Beck? lol that guy is insane, though I can say that about a few of the people on Fox news. :P I think its almost scary that they are now, one of the most watched news channel in the states.

I've always found these types of human recognition prizes to be pretty stupid and meaningless. Pulling something like this doesn't do anything to change my opinion.

According to the Los Angeles Times (in this quote I snatched off a random site):

Excessive praise can be unwelcome and embarrassing, we endorsed him for the job, and we greatly prefer him to his predecessor. But it's difficult to see why he deserves the peace prize so soon after taking office. The Nobel committee didn't just embarrass Obama, it diminished the credibility of the prize itself.

When the media has become entirely biased into a black and white spectrum with Fox appearing on one side against everyone else, but all of America is closer to being split equally, it is no wonder why Fox comes out with an obvious majority, the other news companies have to share their viewership.

Now *that* is an excellent quote. Sums up my feelings.

(self-edits my rant)
