New Poll: How Will You Be Purchasing C&C 4?

Recommended Posts

Here we go with the first CNCNZ.com poll for 2010. With the release of Command & Conquer 4 only a couple of months way we thought it was time to find out how you would be purchasing the game. So the poll question is How will you be purchasing C&C 4? Are you staying old school and getting the retail DVD or will you embrace the future and go fo the big digital download.

If your reading this update on the main page just look to your right and vote in the poll box, if your reading this via the forums click here to cast your vote. And, as always, don't forget to share any feedback or comments about this poll as well.

Now to the results of our previous poll, Of all the C&C 4 units profiled so far. What is your favourite? Looks like a lot of you favour the GDI Mastodon as your favourite profiled unit. The full results of this poll can be found right here.

I prefer my games as physical goods, and if I were to get C&C4 then I would go for the box. The only game I've ever gotten without a box and a disc was Mass Effect 1 from Steam and that was only because (aside from it being on sale for $10) the Steam version didn't have SatanRom SecuRom.

Retail copy delivered straight to my door. :) Even if it probably won't live up to my expectations, I'm still getting it!

Interestingly SupCom2 is coming out in March too apparently.

Retail copy. I don't like downloadables. You can lose it too easily. Knowing EA, they'd butt**** you and make you buy it again even if you own a license already.

Sonic, we need a poll option choice of "I won't be buying C&C4 anyway", or something like that.

Can we have an "I won't be" option please?

Then you don't need to vote. You don't meet the polling requirements. durp.

I prefer a physical box instead, it makes more of a real collection upon after purchasing it. A digital version is, well, not physical as it's only a bunch of files, nothing special.

If you purchase it via the EA Store you get 12 months should you need to download it again, plus you can back it up to DVD or other removable media. That's what I did with RA3 Uprising. If you purchase C&C 4 from the likes of Direct 2 Drive or Steam you can download it again later if you need to for life.

The poll is for C&C fans. Well fans who are planning to get the C&C 4. Your not getting the game so you don't get to vote.

I don't doubt the current mass majority for physical copies will persist until the poll's end, which is why I can't understand EA's reasoning behind releasing Uprising as download only. I do believe that downloading is the way of the future, but you need to merge into a new system, not jump into it head first, especially when EA doesn't even pretend to support your purchases at later dates... even going so far as to charge money for extending redownload support, which is beyond ridiculous. The fact that you are paying as much, or nearly as much, to merely copy a bunch of data from one computer to another, it seems logical that they at least permit you to maintain your ownership over it.

Oh yes, I should mention I voted physical copy, in case that wasn't obvious enough.

And despite my heavy criticisms of C&C4, I will be getting it... eventually.
