Your Favorite Freeware Game

There are a lot of freeware games. Most of them sucked. As for those Facebook games, they aren't that great but they are still fun using flash player. The first best freeware game I have played (other than free Microsoft games) is Duke 2 (provided by PC Gamer). Ever since HL2 was released in 2004, the next best freeware game I had played released from PCG is Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six.

 

The latest major freeware game I knew so far is MechWarrior 4 but I decided to pass since there was no fast download from their original developer's servers unlike what EA did to the first three C&C games. And using Torrent to download large files is unacceptable due to vulnerability to spyware and viruses and I will not take that risk. That's not how you distribute freeware games using Torrent.

 

Now thanks to EA, I pick C&C Red Alert 1 ftw, which is still by far my favorite C&C game and my favorite game among most other games I had played.

Well I just wasted over an hour looking through the wiki links - but I think Purplescrin is asking for an opinion Nmenth.

 

Apart from the obvious C&C games - I'd have to go for most of the old school games... old school like lode runner or elite.

I don't prefer free games because all the free downloadable games that I played before are very low quality games but now when the old C&C games are free and some of the new high quality games like Alien Swarm is free, I may change my mind about the downloadable games..

HA. Well I guess that's true now isn't it.. I have a few boxed copies though so I don't really think of it as a freeware game.

 

 

I don't really play much in the way of freeware games. I'm liking Transformice recently which is free, but a Flash game and I suspect you want something meatier than that.
