C&C 4 Soundtrack Orchestra Recording Sessions

Recommended Posts

Just recently, Command & Conquer 4 composer, James Hannigan, posted a short video on his YouTube channel featuring some footage of the Philharmonic Orchestra at Air Studios in London during the recording sessions for the game's soundtrack back in October 2009. You can watch it below.

Command & Conquer 4 may not have been the greatest game ever made, but at least the soundtrack sounds powerful and epic.

It sucks to say this but... a wonderful orchestra wasted their time with scores that had limited (and lame) arrangments that did not gave the music the volume it deserved. In short, the composer was incompetent and the result sucked mainly because of that.

I don't think it's bad music (it could have been a lot worse if you know what I mean ;) ). They could have made a couple of more tracks though.

Orchestral doesn't fit the Tiberium universe in any way in my opinion.

Something that is also musically similar, by coincidence(?), Star Craft II!

If he had only made tracks like those from RA3...

This style of music doesn't fit the RA universe at all.

You do know the the full soundtrack is 21 songs right?

Despite C&C 4's short comings I think they nailed the music pretty damn well actually. It fits, it work well in the cut-scenes etc..... The C&C 4 soundtrack is just as good as any high quality movie soundtrack.

Can't remember that many from multiplayer. Are all tracks played in multiplayer?

My 2 cents:

I've extensively played the original C&C/Covert Ops/RA/CS/AM, and my BIGGEST gripe to the music is not enough 'power orchestra' type movie soundtrack stuff. I haven't gandered at the YouTube videos (I'm on a miserable dialup connection), but if they sound like that, they'ld get my thumbs_up :)

Back to original C&C music:

Quite honestly the ONLY songs that I even care for in those games would be "Canyon Chase", "Depth Charge", "Fight, Win, Prevail", "In The Line Of Fire", "March To Doom", "Face The Enemy 1", and "Face The Enemy 2".

Anyhow, given my examples above, I think you can see my preferences/music taste for these games <grin>. BTW, an AWESOME soundtrack, the music from the old DOS game "Extreme Assault"... blockbuster movie type stuff :)

For me, this music fits more with Star Wars or something like that  ... it's not so bad I guess.
