Maybe my memory already can't keep in for long. Anyway, your point is a lot better than mine for the other 2 factions.

(gben whistles nonchalantly while Silverthorn debates wimpy RA3 units.)

I think the amount of wackiness in Red Alert 3 was kind of overkill as well. It was okay, but it didn't feel like a sequel.

It did feel like a good sequel to Red Alert 2. RA2 was already wacky, so the "serious universe" was already screwed up.

Me, I just enjoyed the game for what it was. Ridiculous, but a very good game nonetheless. The co-op helps too.

RA and serious universe could never get in the same sentence.

Well Gben, what do you expect, I'm a WW fan after all. Wish the seriousness do retain.

And actually, RA2 do have some seriousness inside, although still wacky. But in honesty, I calculate that RA2 is a little bit like 40% wacky and 60% serious, particularly when it comes to visuals like our units. RA3 is more like 70% to 80% (or more) wacky while the seriousness is quite very low. Hence Nmenth said in his 2 posts above mine.

I loved RA3 overall, for the record. Some minor quibbles here and there.

The biggest head ache was the ridiculous economy mechanic.

I loved RA2's wacky direction, and I just went with it in RA3.

The red alert universe always felt like a mod of C&C so I was never that attached to it.

After all I display more passion for C&C...
