Saracen 16 Posted September 7, 2004 I've just read the interview and it sounds pretty interesting. But looking at the whole scope of this game and the fact that Harvard Mentions a whopping 45-50 missions, plus animations, skirmish maps and a whole host of goodies... that's surly gonna spread over quite a few CD-ROMs... Does anybody know whether there will be a DVD version of this game? I have Unreal Tourney 2004 and the best RTS in the world at the moment "Perimeter" on DVD, and it's so much easier than putting 3 or 4 CDs in to cover a 2-3GB installation... oh I miss the days where you could install entire games from a single CD  Share this post Link to post
Phreakly 0 Posted September 7, 2004 Hopefully there will finally be the massive migration to DVDs, considering how many games are more than 2 CDs these days. It's still gotta be cheaper to produce and package 1 higher capacity DVD than 2-4 smaller capacity cds. Heck, I've heard that the new Myst game is likely to be a multiple DVD game, and the first DVD exclusive release simply because it's so big that it'd need more than 10 CDs if it weren't... Koen 2 Posted September 9, 2004 Perimeter is a DVD exclusive as well I'd like BfME to be on DVD as well, unless EA finally used *good* boxes in Europe which can store the number of CDs included (and not include the 2nd CD in a paper bag... that's cheap). Share this post Link to post
Luk3us 63 Posted September 9, 2004 DVDs are good. The sooner they phase out CDs the better. More capaticity = More content = Better games. And I think everyone now has DVD readers if not writers. Share this post Link to post
Phreakly 0 Posted September 9, 2004 Hopefully Myst IV: Revelations will make the diffrence and game companies will migrate to DVDs immediately. I'm almost certain that Half-life 2 will come on DVD. CDs are just too small now to accomodate everything they're putting into games now. Share this post Link to post
Thierry 0 Posted September 10, 2004 DVD's can store (most) 4.7 GB, some double that. CD's only a max of 700 MB. DVD's are much better. I also hope EA will use good DVD's, cus the crappy ZH CD they gave me suddenly have a big rip in it. Share this post Link to post
J-Fire_Man 0 Posted September 14, 2004 Damn, that means I must buy a DVD reader. That will cost a lot of money. Any suggestion for good DVD reader (which is cheap )? Share this post Link to post
chickendippers 1 Posted September 14, 2004 Well you can get DVD Burners for about £50 Share this post Link to post
Phreakly 0 Posted September 14, 2004 Player or Burner, they're all pretty cheap and usually of decent quality. Just go out and get one, you'll need it. Share this post Link to post
