Sonic 296 Posted October 9, 2003 What does everyone think of this case? Its my new PC case The reason I'm getting it is because the fan in my PSU is crap, and making to much noise (sometimes), plus I want 400 watt PSU, only got a 300 watt right now. The price for a new PSU or new case with PSU is marginal so I've ordered that case above, it comes with a 400 watt PSU. Over the next few months I'll be upgrading the CPU, Motherboard and a few other parts. Share this post Link to post

Rogue Leader 0 Posted October 9, 2003 Very nice! Are you going to do some case modding, or are you going to leave it be? Share this post Link to post

Sonic 296 Posted October 10, 2003 Nice 1 sonic evens comes with a digita clock  rogue leader is right you need some lights on that baby when u get it Ahh....thats not a clock Its a digital thermomter to measure the CPU temperature. Probably won't be doing any case modding, I'm not really into that. Share this post Link to post
chillin 0 Posted October 10, 2003 i think its actually quite sad why not buy a car with the money or go outside.... only joking, but still.... Share this post Link to post
DeadEye 0 Posted October 11, 2003 Some people mod their cars, some mod their comps. Nice case Sonic, I have a Lian-Li 6010w myself Any idea as to what parts you will be upgrading to? I myself am looking at getting another PSU, stick of 512mb RAM and a 40gb HDD, and the odd drive covering too, at around about $576.75. Ascent cost a bit more, but good service. Sonic 296 Posted October 11, 2003 22.5 Celsius? That's not an AMD then For the record thats not my CPU temp . My AMD chip is idling around 36 degress celsius. On the subject of CPU temperatures, how hot should an AMD Athlon XP 1700+ get? Any idea as to what parts you will be upgrading to? I haven't decided yet. I'm waiting until after the Christmas break, I'll see what is available then. All I have to do now is find out why the power LED and HDD LED don't seem to work on my new case. I've checked all the connections to the motherboard and they are plugged in correctly according to the MB manual. I suspect the actual LEDs are faulty. Share this post Link to post

Koen 2 Posted October 11, 2003 On the subject of CPU temperatures, how hot should an AMD Athlon XP 1700+ get? I know my XP 2000+ Palomino gets 52+ degrees (idle, after some warming up) and 58 or so after playing lots of Generals. So it's a good temp I think Share this post Link to post
Sonic 296 Posted October 11, 2003 As I post this my CPU is at 38.1 degrees, the heighest I've seen it get to so far was 41.2 degrees earlier this afternoon around 4 PM. I'll be contacting the place of purchase about LED problem on Monday. Its only a minor problem but I'd like them to work. Share this post Link to post
Rogue Leader 0 Posted October 13, 2003 *cough* Liquid Cooling *cough* My CPU runs at about 32 degrees at full tilt, I'm playing EnB right now and this is as hot as it gets Share this post Link to post
osey 2003 0 Posted October 13, 2003 same here koen my xp 3000+ gets to arround that for any 1 curious of thier cpu temperature go to www.msi.com.tw/ to get a programe called pc alert 4 it monitors ur CPU temp the volts ur pc is using and if there is any chassie intrusion it also comes with a nifty cooler feature to boost ur fan speed and reduce ur CPU core speed untill its at the recommended temperature arround 52 celcius Share this post Link to post

Sonic 296 Posted October 15, 2003 The liquid cooling idea seems a bit extreme to me. BTW, update on the problem with non-functioning LEDs on my new case. The supplier is sending me a new front panel and replacement. Share this post Link to post

Sonic 296 Posted October 15, 2003 I ordered it from Ascent Tech http://www.ascent.co.nz/mn-product-spec.asp?pid=114204 Share this post Link to post
Rogue Leader 0 Posted October 15, 2003 The liquid cooling idea seems a bit extreme to me. It is a little extreme, but I cool everything with my setup, including cpu, mobo chipset, video card, and HDD. And with only 3 low noise fans, I barely notice my computer is on when I'm in my room and not using it. For me, it was worth it. Share this post Link to post
Sonic 296 Posted October 16, 2003 Thats a good point, it would reduce the amount of noise. My new case, with the extra case fans is rather quiet, I expected it to be louder actually. The noise of the spinning fans doesn't bother me, its when they start to get old and make rattling sounds.....such as the fan in my old case's PSU. Share this post Link to post
