What do you guys think is the Generals relationship to C&C games?

Generals has nothing to do with the original C&C storyline. It doesn't fit in anywhere. EA slapped the C&C name on so it would sell. Its only part of the C&C brand name.

Yeh, its sad that there is not connection...but I hope Tiberian Twilight will make up for it.

Generals is a sad proof that names can be used only to sell games.

it has nothing to do with CNC, even the gameplay is different.

You can tell it wasn't meant to fit in with the time line because that would mean:

RA1 > TD > Generals > TS

That wouldn't make any sence story-wise, or technology-wise.

Yeah, from a C&C standpoint, Generals is a travesty. All that holy outrage aside, it's not a bad game

It's sad that it had to come with the demise of the true C&C storyline

No relationship what so ever.

Besides its set in a world which according to the TS series doesn't exist. ;)

It's plain money-making. EA just used the C&C trademark of Westwood Studios and gained from it! Talk about ripping off a very good franchise to quickly make money. Aside from that, the games nice. Though I miss the old ConYard and the C&C side panel (the trademark of almost all C&C games excluding Generals).

Generals, basically, takes Command & Conquer and use it to create a war on terror game, which would sell to those who did not play the previous games such as Red Alert or Tiberian Sun. It would be like having Mario play sports, making Austin Powers pinball, putting Resident Evil characters in fighting games, that sort of thing.

Mario playing sports? But he does! There are lots of games in this kind. Austin pinball is interesting, same with Resident Evil fight.

That is what I am saying. There are games out there that are not part of any storyline but are still one of a series of games. The Mario Tennis, Mario Golf, Mario Paint, they have nothing to do with the storyline. They still make the games though. They make pinball games of anything. How about a Generals pinball table? And the Resident Evil characters, what right does Rebecca have in a street fight? The answer is it does not really matter. If it keeps you awake at night, think how maybe we are living in a altered world and Command & Conquer is real life.
