Damn Updates, What's wrong?

I try to go online for RA2 (NOT yuri's revenge) and it says updates required, do you want to download, etc.etc. I go 'ok' and it says 'finding patch'. Then it freezes. And doesn't unfreeze. I've installed the version 1.006 patch. Anyone know how to get round this problem?

Reinstall then redo the patch.

Auto update probably doesn't work anymore because WOL is so messed up.

I did as chickendippers instructed. No dice, it still wants to find an update, and still freezes.

If you download the patch from CNCNZ (using Sonic's URL) it doesn't query the internet - it just patches. It might take a while to patch, it's a good idea just to leave the computer for a few minutes.

I have the same problem and have searched high and low.

It worked only when you install Yuri's Revenge over RA 2 and then install the Yuri 1.1.1.0 patch. Unfortunately Yuri does not work on XP. So I'm stuck to boring RA2. I got that message after uninstalling and installing with compatabilty mode Win 95 for all exe's then installing the 1.006 patch then copying the THIPX32.patch. No good. So I updated with the Yuri disk and not installing the actual game to no avail. You must install Yuri full over RA2 then Download that yuri patch from here then run it then put you RA2 cd in and proceed.

If you don't own yuri I have no idea.

Yup me too. Isn't XP is one of the supported os of Renegade? It should be working perfectly in xp.

You can still play any command and conquer on XP, I still enjoy playing tiberian dawn on it. As for the update, when you are installing it will hang at one spot for a long time, and I used to think it would never install, but dont worry, it will

i just posted about the same problem, and everything used to be fine, i had ra2 and yuri installed. until i got a virus, which messed up ra2, uninstalled/reinstalled, and viola ra2 has 1.006 patch and needs an update to play wol??? wtf, now it turns out my yuri cd has been missplaced by my 10 year old bro, once i find it all should be good... hopefully. anyone know of a fix to this?

ya yr was fine on mine too... but i had to reinstall, and lost yr cd.. hence ra2 wont work right online... if anyone knows how to fix please reply

what exactly do u select to run in 98 mode? i've tried mpx.exe, ra2.exe, and game.exe, along with various combinations fo the 3... along with that when i have ra2.exe in 98 mode all my structures are invisible and the game normally surrenders me within a few minutes in skirmish mode.

i actually have a brand new game (purchased), both cd's... tried using either cd to install multiple times. neither worked better than the other. I bought them because my allied cd broke while playing ra2, still dont know how, into a million pieces. But i always used my older soviet cd, maybe i should try that one again... well another install... but no i dont have anything pirated. One thing it might be is some of the xcc software, i thought i deleted it all, but anyone know how to completely delete xcc if i am wrong?

:lol: dude i got it to update, if i can remember how exactly i did get it without it freezeing... oh yeah i could only manually update 1 or both of 'em. :?: or was it yuri's revenge? well, it was 1 of them that could only be patched manually
