J-Fire_Man 0 Posted January 6, 2005 I agree, I don't like rap music too, but it's the other kind of music, it's an art. You can't deny the existence of rap as one of music variation. Live will be boring if there is no variation Share this post Link to post
BWare 0 Posted January 6, 2005 Yikes. Calm down dude.... that's it, a few deep breaths... there you go. Well you sure did bring up some excellent points. What an amazing debater you are! Dense fùcking retards. That's what you two are; intolerant shìts Now, just shut the fùck up. Wow, you sure have a brilliant grasp of the English language! Listen- I don't mind opinions contrary to my own. I invite them, actually; adversity yields strength. I do mind, however, ignorant dolts who beef up their weak logic with four letter words. Cussing is the expression of a weak mind. You sound like a moron. Remember that it's far better to keep your mouth shut and appear ignorant than to open it and remove all doubt. Anyways... you claim that rap is indeed music without backing that claim up in any way. Then you claim that I say it isn't music only because I don't like it. I already covered this in my previous posts... I don't like country music either, but I acknowledge that it is in fact music. My personal preferences have nothing to do with what music I consider legitimate. Then you throw in some big-sounding words to make yourself sound smart: Simply because you dislike something does not remove an evident truth. What truth is that?? If you are actually claiming that the TRUTH of rap being music is indeed EVIDENT, then show me the EVIDENCE! You really don't even know what you're saying, do you? Now I leave you with this little bit of advise: Either grow up and learn to talk like a big boy, or shut up. TO ALL: I apologize for apparently having a hand in this thread degenerating into a flame war. I just wanted to debate the validity of a certain genre of music, but apparently Fenring had other plans. Again, I apologize. Share this post Link to post
J-Fire_Man 0 Posted January 6, 2005 in terms of talent, rap is at the absolute bottom of the pile. It is not music It's clear now  Share this post Link to post
Luk3us 63 Posted January 6, 2005 If you go to a music shop there WILL be rap there. Its really just that simple. Just accept it and you're feel better. In addtion Country sucks. Classical is alright at times and Velvet Revlover 0wns all. Share this post Link to post
BWare 0 Posted January 6, 2005 Country does suck, Velvet Revolver rocks, and classical is amazing. All of the above are MUSIC. Rap sucks, and it is not music. The fact that it is in a music store is irrelevant. Popular opinion doesn't necessarily define music. If the sound of cars starting became popular and cds were sold in music stores, would you consider that music? I really have a very basic point here. Share this post Link to post
rushz0rz 0 Posted January 6, 2005 Why didn't you just put genres? Some people, I will never understand. Share this post Link to post
chickendippers 1 Posted January 6, 2005 Rap does require some tallent - talking that fast is not as easy as you'd think. Share this post Link to post
Saracen 16 Posted January 6, 2005 You could say that some of the heavier versions of Metal I listen to are more noise than music, but who gives a damn. Unless you're a Heavy Metaller than you would't realise that Metal is split into the following.. # Gothic Metal # Black Metal # Death Metal # Doom # Atmospheric Gothic Metal # Grindcore/Crustcore # Hardcore # Metalcore # Hard Electronics/Noise # Heavy Metal # Industrial # Nu-Metal # Power Metal # Punk Metal # Stoner Rock/Garage Metal # Thrash Metal Therefore following the orginal argument and furthering my point, Rap Music, IS Music. It depends entirely which catergory you put it in. Rap defines numerous catergories of music, and there are just as many versions of Rap as are in the list of Metal music above. BWare 0 Posted January 6, 2005 Okay... once again, let me restate my point. Mindless noise is not music. That's it. I happen to love metal if some actual thought is put behind it. Yeah, I'm sure that some of what you listen to isn't music, but I'm not saying that it's a bad thing to enjoy something like that... I'm just saying that it isn't actual music. Calling it music is an insult to the true musicians out there who create masterpieces. Your unnecessarily long list of metal variations doesn't really prove anything either...... I'm not sure what you're trying to do by listing them. Are we supposed to be impressed that you know more about a certain genre? Does that exclusivity make you feel special? Quotes like... Unless you're a Heavy Metaller than you would't realise... ...prove that you feel seperated from us and superior. Give it a rest dude... we aren't impressed  Rap does require some tallent - talking that fast is not as easy as you'd think yeah, I will agree with you there. Most MODERN rap, however... where they just talk, even at a SLOWED pace... requires 0 talent. Regardless, talent doesn't make something musical. The two aren't necessarily linked. I could talk really fast into my computer's microphone for a minute straight and record it, but that wouldn't be music. That would be a guy talking fast. Burping the alphabet is also a talent, but I think you would agree that it isn't music. Throwing in a primitive beat doesn't really lend much credibility to it either. Share this post Link to post
Saracen 16 Posted January 6, 2005 ...prove that you feel seperated from us and superior. Give it a rest dude... we aren't impressed  What in the hell grabbed your goat and spanked it's monkey. Attitude problems get you no where sonny boy. You want my superiority then you've got it, this topic's being locked before it gets out of hand. I sense a flame war about to heavily erupt..
