I'm old school here. .... I like Rush, Zepplin, Yes, OZZY, Black Sabbath, Dream Thearter, and DIO, and for you younger generation guys.....I'll stick with Metallica!

I have a 17 year old son and he's a Metallica fan.....It's kind of strange trading CD's with your kid! But we're best buds!!!

Both you and your son have excellent taste :D

You know a lot of people don't understand what Metallica is all about....well thats how I see it anyway. Metallica have gone through so much over the years, the early days, the death of Cliff Burton, making music without him, learning to work with the outsider called Bob Rock on the black album, the 9 month mission making the black album, taking all the backlash for the Load/Reload albums, fighting all the Napster downloaders, Jason Newsted quiting, James Hetfield in rehab and then of course all the **** they went through to get St.Anger done.

To put it in plain english..... Metallica are modern day legends!!

You can add Motorhead and Diamond Head to my list as well. Been listening to them quite a bit lately.

Metallica cover a few of there songs on the Garage Inc. album.

If you want a good Motorhead song search for "Line in the Sand". Its actually the theme music for Evolution on WWE Raw.

Yes, it's an awesome song, but they've played it to death in the UK. It was the UK's number 1 in the download chart.

hmm. Not a band. A gang if anything... a violent and angry poison to society

sorry, but I feel very strongly about that subject.. Anyway, aren't bands supposed to make music?

Speaking of music, Rap is not part of the category here (by popular opinion)

OK, some rap is decent, but everything on the market is vulgar and rude and, well, you know what I mean. Dont those artists have morals. Didnt we all go to Sunday school once upon a time?

Hardly. Where is the "music" in rap? The only thing even remotely musical is the beat... which is mind-numbingly simple. That's it. Throw in some ridiculously inappropriate and immoral lyrics, and you have what is popularly regarded as "music" today. It's beyond me.

 exactly Cygnyus. That type of popular moral degeneracy is doing a MASSIVE amount of damage to society. When a civilzation abandons its principles and goes against the natural moral law... all hell breaks loose.

Nope, I didn't. But there is obviously something wrong with a country's education system if people lack morals and conscience.

You can't say rap isn't music. That's not a fair assumption. It is music but it's different so it has its own genre. Metal is classical so by that comparison metal would suck. Different genres.

I don't like rap either but you can't lump it with metal, rock, classical, country, etc.

 I'm sorry, but that whole post made very little sense... I'm pretty tired, but dang.

Anyway, I understand and acknowledge that rap is a genre.... I'm not stupid. My point is that... as a genre... modern rap (80s stuff was pretty cool, hehe :)) in general can't be seriously considered "music." It is garbage. The only rap stuff that has any musical depth is the covering of classic ROCK songs, which they have been doing quite a bit lately (screwing up the classics ). And yes, it is perfectly reasonable to compare music despite their genres... good music stands up to comparison with anything.

Yes we can, & we are, there are more & better argued arguement why it isn't music to why it is. Its more like people talking to a backing track, & most of it is utter crap what they "sing" about anyway.

exactly... in terms of talent, rap is at the absolute bottom of the pile. It is not music. Some would argue that it is a medium to express something or deliver a message. If that is the case, then, as General immeyourenot pointed out, the message is "utter crap."

We're looking at a loose-loose situation with rap here, folks. It is not music, and its "message" is one of animalistic womanizing, glorified violence and drug abuse, and moral degeneracy. Bottom line... rap sucks.

Dense fùcking retards. That's what you two are; intolerant shìts. Rap is music, not great but it still counts. Simply because you dislike something does not remove an evident truth.

Now, just shut the fùck up.
