just a thought... how about those countries that aren't really any sides? brazil, amazon (i think it is a country.. i forgot. not the country of women only in ancient myths), south africa, afganistan (can't spell, and don't critize, they were US allieds in the the Cold War), turkey, swiss (you can make it that they're not a neutral country, that they're allieds or soviet... it could be interesting).. just ideas... look at the map... and pick and choose...

Interesting ideas...I thought that a South American military alliance would make a good new faction, as perhaps a South African led African faction. As for this "amazon" country, I think you're referring to Brazil - the country where the Amazon river is. And Afghanistan was a Soviet ally during the Cold War...the muhajideen rebels were causing trouble for the pro-Soviet government, so the Soviets sent troops in..the CIA sent weapons and advisors to the mujahideen (who took over Afghanistan and set up the Taliban regime), with no way of knowing that it would bite the US in the ass 20 years later. And as for Switzerland, neutrality has been a part of Swiss politics since the 16th century, I don't see them taking sides in any war (despite having one of the best militaries in Europe if not the world). Turkey (major US ally in Cold War) would be a good addition to the Allies, as would Greece (remember Col. Stavros in RA1?)

Great ideas, I think the African Militairy Alliance should be more like the forgotten in TS.

 

However, Japan with the allies? Weren't they they actually enemies in WWII (or WWI I forgot)?

in ww2 but i think they'd more be allied to us i.e they have sent trrops and ships to oraq tho im not sure if that makes any difference

umm... japan is more of an imperialistic kind of contry pre WW2... i think they are calmer now... umm... the sound of african countries is a pretty good idea... and also... you know that swiss can change it's neutrality anytime... it best falls under allieds... but wicked if they turn soviet...

Or to fight with! The soviets always have been my favourite side in the RA series... But then again the allies are very good as well keeping these four weapons in my mind:

- prism tank

- mirage tank

- spy satellite

- chronosphere

 

But then again... there's one simple answer against all of 'em... it's called an apocalypse tank :wink:

how bout China, or North Korea, or NATO

China and North Korea are already in as Soviet countries and NATO is an organiztion. Never would have formed anyway since this is the RA2 timeline.

One could say that in RA2 NATO ARE the Allies. The Allied countries (except South Korea) are the main countries real world NATO.

South Afica sounds cool. Always wanted to go to Africa myself, but not the war zones.

 

In RA2 time line Japan seem more likely to be allied than Soviet, Sout Korea is pretty close to them, and Japanese and Russian/Soviet realations have never been good with each other.

actually... japan is least likely to allied with soviet... she is afraid of russia therefore signed the "berlin-tokyo" pact... which italy later joined in to make the "berlin-rome-tokyo" pact...

That didnt happen in RA story.

 

If you notice, while the US never fought WWII (neither did anybody for that matter) They still fought the Japs in the pacific, 'cause the Arizona memorial is at all the Pearl Harbor missions. Thats probably why the US didnt join the war against the Soviets right away in RA. Because they were tied up fighting the Japs.

or is that just a bug? also another thing... japanese was against russians for a very long time... pre 1900s... WW2 did not happen... but the japanese did still hated the russians in ww1... it is weird... hard to think.. when did hitler die in RA story line?

Hitler died outside a prison camp where he was just released from while he was still young and not in power. Einstein is your assassin. So with Germany not able to threaten the Soviets with power. The soviet empire would push to the left till they would reach the shore's of Britain.

 

As for who is allied with who... Just switch Germany and Russia around. Those who would hate Germany now are friends with them. Those who hated the reds are now allies with them. Remember that Soviets dealt the same amount of carnage as Hitler, the holocaust did not happen but the same amount of lives were lost. The soviets did not control much in foreign regions like Germany did. The only county that has been mentioned, Japan, would be up in question. They did not take part in the first great world war and didn't receive a pact with the soviets in the 2nd great world war, like they did with hitler in our time line. They would be a neutral country towards both the allied and soviet forces.

As I said, the Swiss would probably remain neutral, as they have for hundreds of years. Japan was allied to the US due to fear of Soviet expansionism (USSR had claimed ownership of certain islands in northern Japan) and may have aided the US had a US/Soviet war broken out. And the Japanese definitely would have reason to fear the USSR in the RA universe if the USSR was able to make a landing on the US West Coast in RA2.

hehehe.... that brings up a good point. Pre-RA2, WHY THE HELL DIDN'T THE JAPS WARN THE US?? They must have seen them, and they had plenty of time. You know how long it takes a Kirov to fly across a map... imagine one flying across the entire freakin' PACIFIC OCEAN!!!

Rember the Arizona memorial at Pearl Harbor? The Japs may have agreed with the Soviets to stay out of the war in any way shape and form in return for not being invaded. (because the Japs still hated the Americans for winning the war against them) Then the Soviets would have eventually double-crossed the Rising Sun.

War in the Pacific. Originally part of WWII, now in RA timeline, just another war, this time between the Americans and the Japs. Apparently it wasnt that devastating, because right after the Pacific war, the Americans sent troops and Apaches to Europe to fight off the Soviet invasion.
