Cheating as a defense [?]

I have been playing yuri's revenge since its release in 2001. It's a HIGHLY addictive game with many chess-like qualities.

 

Over the years i have gotten quite good at the game and have been an honest player since the beginning. i find that though with this comes a HUGE amount of frustration from my opponents. When they are losing they will do ANYTHING to win.

 

EX:

 

- start using yuri in a no yuri game (yes, i can and sometimes do disable crates)

 

- start using president IFVs

 

now i can understand the temptation to use crap like this, but i am tempted myself to get the pres ifv cheat just to use as a backup IN CASE my oponents use it.

 

what are your thoughts? should i d/l cheats just as a defense against other cheating players????

 

its not like westwood/EA will release a patch for the game and ever fix this.

Are those actually cheats? If they're a part of the game, then I see no reason not to use them. At that point it's just a valid strategy.

some people agree on "no yuri" at the beginning of a match... but regardless of that... president IFV is a cheat.

 

i am thinking of getting the pres IFV just in case.

 

i really hope RA3 will rock then i will move on. generals just doesnt do it for me..

sounds dumb, but the ifv shoots a laser twice the length of a prism tank shot. its not impossible to defend/beat but its still extremely frustrating.

I am so against cheating that it's only after a great deal of thought I am letting this topic stay open, if you don't want to have to cheat against cheaters play on XWIS and if you try and cheat you will be banned.

Question: Is it possible to play with mods and altered Game files on those servers? Or is your version checked by WOL servers?

 

the way see it there is that it connects to an entirely different server.

 

and that would be perfect to do MultiPlay tests with my MOD!!

You can play on both WOL and XWIS with mods installed, but only people with your mod installed will be able to see your games.

I've never heard of the president IFV unit. I'll edit my rules.ini to build presidents, and put 1 in an IFV to test it out

xwis is great, but

 

1) sometimes you can't even get a game going due to lack of people.

 

2) i have been accused of cheating when playing on XWIS. its VERY easy for people to think you are cheating and report you. the possibility of a legit player like myself getting banned seems very high.

 

can you tell me more on how XWIS checks before a ban? i might just play there all the time now if people can't just get me banned because they lost.

i'm against cheating... my uncle even calls my inventions cheats... when he can use them!!! lol... cheating ruins fun... unless you are playing against your friends and agreed that cheaps are allowed...

Cheats are only really fun after you're beaten a game. And go back and play it... Though thats only in Single Player... Cheating in Multi just screws it all up...

problem is if they cheat, and you cheat back, wouldn't they then just use another cheat on you? and it becomes a stupid god-modding loop... if they cheat (something that you can't tolerate i mean, like something really powerful) then you just quit or boot o.o

That's just idiotic though. Cheap shots are meant to be exactly that: Cheap Shots. And if you can't defend, counter or make the Cheap Shot void or ineffective, then you need to get some more experience. That that I'm saying your inexperienced, Mina, its just that usually, He Who Has The Most Tanks Wins. Although, there are easy ways to kill off a tank squadron. And if you can't hack getting attacked by cheap shots, then don't play. Simple as that.
